AC chemo followed by Taxotere, anyone else?
I just started chemo last month and I've noticed most women doing AC-T chemo are doing 4 ac followed by 12 weekly taxol. Is anyone doing 4 ac followed by 4 of Taxotere instead of taxol? I've yet to find anyone with the same chemo plan as me, I'm 30 and have aggressive BC grade 3, ki-67 87%, with an oncotype score of 63

Well, I was supposed to do it that way. I had the 4 a/c. Not fun, but doable. Had first taxotere infusion, had a severe allergic reaction to it. MO stopped any further chemo.
I think most can handle the taxotere ok, he said prior to infusion it would be easier on me. I also think it depends on your particular cancer, and your MOs preference.
You can do it!!

Jenni,
When I was originally treated in 2004, I had six infusions. Each of those had A & C, plus taxotere. It was rough. Your plan sounds a lot better.

A year ago I started my chemo treatment and it was exactly the same as yours 4 AC then 4 T - like you I don't know that I ever heard from someone else that had the 4T as most everyone was going in weekly. I found the AC to be a lot easier to tolerate than the T because I experienced a couple of days of depression on day 6/7 after getting the T. Nothing terrible - just didn't want to move from the couch. Overall I think I did pretty well on the chemo - was good with water and walking every day. My hair is growing back thick and more importantly, days go by and I don't even think about cancer....
I wish you all the best - I will check back in every day or so to see if you have any questions

wow I can’t imagine all 3 together, ac is really getting to me by itself

@spookiesmom I’ve heard more ppl have allergic reactions to taxotere, I’m nervous about starting in March. What was your diagnosis?

@maddy83f so you did 4 taxotere instead of taxol? For some reason most oncologists choose taxol over taxotere for theac-t chemo regimen, I wonder why, I was thinking maybe it’s an insurance thing and it’s cheaper or something

In 2012 I was dx stage 3, grade 3 IDC. The tumor was huge, by touch they thought stage 4. I had chemo first, surgery , then rads. Was bmx. Then about 4-5 years various AI.

jenni04, I honestly don't remember if I was given taxotere or taxol... I do know that my doctor told me that he wanted me to try the double dose every two weeks and that if it was too much, I could move to every week for 12 weeks. While it was harder on me than the 'Red Devil' A/C (which is opposite of what everyone else seems to experience), it was definitely doable. Key could have been that Claritin really worked against the neulasta pain while I was on A/C - and it didn't work when I was on the DD T
