I was considered high risk after my mammogram last summer and they recommended MRI in 6 months that was done this past Tuesday. I am 46 with no abnormal mammograms. My sister had breast cx 10 years ago at age 46. She had a mastectomy but not sure what kind of breast cx. My aunt is going thbreast cancer treatment now. I am now 46 and the breast MRI came back that I need a biopsy. After reading quite a few threads and literature, I feel like it will be benign because MRIs have a a lot of false positives. But there is a little doubt still sitting in the back of my mind. Here are my results. I will take any feedback. Hopefully the next week will go by fast. My doctor did give me Xanax :)

FINDINGS:

There is heterogeneous fibroglandular tissue in both breasts. Bilateral background parenchymal enhancement is moderate, which limits the sensitivity of MRI.

RIGHT BREAST: No suspicious mass, enhancement or architectural distortion identified. No abnormal right axillary or internal mammary lymph nodes.

LEFT BREAST: There is focal non-mass enhancement in the left breast upper outer quadrant at the approximate 2 o'clock position middle depth measuring 0.8 cm. It is best seen on axial post contrast series image 99, sagittal post contrast series image 57. It demonstrates washout on delayed phase kinetics. There is no associated T2 hyperintensity or T1 correlate. No correlate is identified on recent mammogram.

No abnormal left axillary or internal mammary lymph nodes identified.

OTHER: There is a focus of dermal enhancement involving the skin of the inferomedial right breast (axial postcontrast subtraction series image 38). No abnormal enhancement in the visualized mediastinal, upper abdominal or osseous structures.

IMPRESSION:

The focal non-mass enhancement in the left breast 2:00 position appears suspicious for malignancy. An MRI guided biopsy is recommended.

Incidental enhancement involving the skin of the inferomedial right breast. Clinical follow-up is recommended.

BI-RADS 4: SUSPICIOUS. Recommend [left] breast biopsy.

I just want to welcome you scrmom! The details of these reports are not things I know much about. At first glance though it sounds quite hopeful though your biopsy will tell the true story. If it helps while you're waiting on the biopsy and then results...I had a large area of non-mass enhancement and it turned out to be a lot of benign and precancerous stuff, some of which would've had me undergoing excision even had the DCIS not been found - more preventative in that case at a lower level. You're in the waiting stage now so do what you can to distract yourself in the lead up to the biopsy, as well as while waiting for the results. Others will chime in with more specifics before too long...

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, my worry about my mri report has taken a back burner. My sister that I mentioned in the above post had only the left breast mastectomy 10 years ago. Well she is 3 weeks post Covid but still has a cough and feels like the symptoms have started all over again. She had a chest X-ray Friday and I read the results and there are 2 possible neoplastic enhancements on her right lung. She had a fall a month ago and had ringing in her right ear and fullness for at least 3 months. I am an RN and feel the mass on lung, ear problems all could be related. I fear or wonder if it has all started with something on her right breast. She is due for a mammogram this month. I am hoping her doctor will read report ASAP and recommend seeing heroncologist or at least order a chest ct scan.
