I have a mammogram/ultrasound tomorrow related to bloody nipple discharge. I have lost sleep worrying and can't think of anything else. I'm sending positive vibes to all who have testing coming up.

Thank you Harley07. These boards are full of so much support and information. Sometimes I feel odd posting when I don't have a diagnosis or a lot to contribute to others. I appreciate your response

I'm anxiously waiting for results from a core needle biopsy I had last Wednesday so that sort counts as testing this week, right? I'm really, really freaked out because this mass looks so much more worrisome than the others I've had checked. It also doesn't help that I learned my department is shutting down and I find out on Thursday when my last day of work is after 11 years at my company. I have visions I'll be on the phone with HR when the doctor calls. I'm a complete stress-ball right now.

Good luck tomorrow! Also sending you positive vibes.

You guys are awesome. I'm grateful to say I just got my results and it came back as a complex fibroadenoma. That moment when I saw the email notification that there was a new message waiting for me on MyChart though...

This is the 7th mass I've had biopsied (my first was at 19), and my mom was diagnosed with BC at 50 and I'm 46, so I feel very, very lucky.

@Peacejen, how did your appointment go? Let us know! Wishing you all the best.

Jellybean646, I am so happy for you :) That is great news!

Just finished my mammogram/ultrasound. They want to biopsy an area in my left breast that they picked up on during the ultrasound, and they want to biopsy something they saw on the the right side in a duct. A nurse will call me to schedule the biopsy. Here we go..

I hope it goes well for you. The radiologist told me during my procedure that 80% of biopsies turn out to be benign so the odds are in your favor. Keep in touch with an update. This forum is so amazing and supportive.

Jellybean, that is kind of an average. Peacejen’s 4A is estimated to have a 90% chance of being benign. Very low concern

I think I read that 4a means between 2%-10% chance of breast cancer. Everyone’s support is helpful, thank you all.

Sorry you'll have to go through biopsies peacejen though keep the odds in mind. Hopefully they can do that very soon though that is all about perspective. You'll still be worried waiting for results though ground in the odds and hoping that helps... Please check back in.... I know you will : )

Ugh, I have to wait 4 weeks for biopsies. They told me I get the results in two business days. How do I get through the next 4 weeks? I know most of you have been through this and more, sorry if I post unnecessarily. I’m so sure that this time it will be malignant that I’ve contemplated putting together a plan, or outline, of what I will do if it is cancer.

How weird am I, or is this excessive.

"I've contemplated putting together a plan, or outline, of what I will do if it is cancer."

Honestly, not a good idea at all.

First off, 4 weeks is enough time that you should be able to push this aside and go on with your life during this time. I'm better with longer waits than shorter ones - if I will be having a test or getting a result in 2 days, I will think about it and worry, but if something isn't happening for 4 weeks, well, I have a lot of living to do during that time and the concerns just naturally get moved to the back of my mind.

Second, why would you plan for a cancer diagnosis when the odds are in your favor that you won't be diagnosed with cancer? Isn't that a waste of time and energy? And wouldn't you be creating more worry and stress by focusing on cancer? I notice the mentions of a BI-RADs 4A rating but I don't see where you've said that. Is that the rating for your latest imaging or do you have a different BI-RADs rating?

Third, what exactly would you plan for? Every diagnosis is different and the treatment is different. Surgery first or chemo first? Or maybe no chemo at all? Mastectomy or lumpectomy? Well, that depends. Radiation? Well, that depends. Anti-hormone therapy? Well, that depends. So even if you were to land on the short side of the odds, there are simply too many unknowns to plan effectively.

If your biopsy has not been scheduled for 4 weeks, the good news is that it means that the radiologist is not concerned. Focus on that and on your every day life, rather than on a cancer diagnosis which will hopefully never come based on a test that's not happening for 4 weeks.

So yeah, it is excessive. And not healthy.

Beesie, I like your straight to the point approach :) I have bloody nipple discharge on my left. I had diagnostic mammogram/ultrasound yesterday and the radiologist saw something behind my right nipple (which I didn't have any complaints in) and in left breast (but not behind nipple). She ordered an ultrasound guided biopsy of both sites. She didn't say anything about a BI-RAD so I asked, she said she will give it a 4a.

As far as planning, I wasn't thinking of treatments, more like who I will tell, how much time off of work do I have available, which of the 2 breast surgeons do I prefer.

I will do my best to distract myself. You are so kind to offer support to so many people

    Thank you!

Really important you give yourself a little time to be where you are and then work on a plan for how you will move forward the next four weeks, focusing on who and what you enjoy - what's important to you, etc. Life is short so please focus on living it as best you can while you wait....

    Hello again, two questions....

1 - I have two threads going, one titled with my symptom and this one. Which one should I use to ask my ongoing questions? I don't want to frustrate anyone with multiple threads.

2 - I know I can't share photos but am I allowed to post the written results of my tests?

    Thank you everyone.

I’d ppst to the other thread that has the more substantive information.

You can post your reports-just make sure you don’t post the personal identifying information

I am having MRI tomorrow to see if there is anything else we missed in the ultrasound-guided biopsy on 12/29; I am praying that they will not find something else.

I am looking at surgery (not sure yet if lumpectomy or mastectomy) for my left breast DCIS early next month
