First Post ... Glad to have a place to share and ask questions. I had a mammogram and sonogram last week and am now awaiting a visit to the dermatologist. Those tests found nothing unusual, but, as my CNP said, "the surface symptoms are so obvious". At first, I thought the absence of anything inside the breast and the radiologist's recommending a dermatologist visit was a "brush off", but after reading some posts about Paget's in this community, I realize that Paget's doesn't always show up in the breast, first, and that the dermatologist is the go-to for a skin biopsy.

I cannot express how relieved I am to know that my healthcare providers don't think all I need is skin cream. Thank you, Community members, for giving me information I did not get from the radiologist!

My only sister was diagnosed with breast cancer less than two years ago, and my Mom was diagnosed with Stage VI breast cancer almost a year ago. I can't talk with either as my sister has brain damage and my mom has advanced dementia. The only other breast cancer in my family is my Dad's father - both Dad and his Dad are gone. Even worse - my sister and Mom live two days' and three days' travel from where I am stationed, currently. Then, there is Covid ...

I don't know anyone, right now, who has or has survived breast cancer. Thank goodness for all of you!

I'm glad you found us RangerLady! First, thank you for your service! Wow - you have a lot going on in your family with your mom and sister and then historically with your dad and grandfather! Lots on your plate! Given the breast cancer in your family, have you had genetic testing? If not you may want to ask one of your docs about a referral to a genetics counselor, or at the very least a cancer panel, esp. BRCA. I'm glad you feel more relieved about the referral to derm! Please let us know how that appointment goes, all right?
