edited December 2020 in Waiting for Test Results

Hi. New here.

I have an ultrasound guided biopsy scheduled for next week with a consult with a nurse practitioner 3 days later.

I went from Bi-rads 3 to 4 after my 6 month follow up last week. Radiologist said the lesion has slightly decreased in size but now appears more solid and there is a small amount of internal color Doppler flow.

I'm hoping that the fact that the lesion has slightly decreased in size is in my favor. Not sure on the other two findings. Is the internal color flow the most concerning?

Any input or words of guidance would help. Thank you!

Welcome dangersome! This is a really difficult time with all the testing, waiting for your follow-up appointment to get results and dealing with greater anxiety. I would not pretend to have enough knowledge to report on any medical info you offered... I just want to welcome you. do what you can to keep yourself a little busier doing things you enjoy the next week or so while you're waiting. Hopefully you have some helpful supports too. This site is a great site for information and support. I'm other comments will follow mine....

Had my core needle biopsy this morning. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. The mass pretty much disappeared after the first sample was taken. Radiologist said not to lose any sleep over it. I am so relieved but still waiting for the actual results. Thanks for your replies and support!

I'm glad the biopsy itself went well. I hope the results truly go as good for you. It sounds like the radiologist's words were reassuring to you while you'll obviously still have worry until you have "actual results." Hopefully you won't have to wait too long.... do what you can to enjoy the next few days or so, relax and distract. Please check back in once you get more info, ok?

Have not received the Pathology report yet but I did get this from Radiologist today...

    -------- ADDENDUM #1 --------

Pathology: Benign breast tissue, foci of ectatic ducts with apocrine metaplasia and luminal complications. No malignant cells identified.

    Findings are concordant.

Follow-up with a six-month breast ultrasound may be beneficial.

I am very relieved that is benign!!! Have a follow up appointment tomorrow and will know more about these words that I do not understand. What is luminal complications?

    Yeah! Great news, congratulations!

Sorry, can't help on "luminal complications". I've been hanging around here a long time and I don't recall hearing that one before.

dangersome I'm glad you got good news even if you'll still need a recheck in 6 months. Hopefully they will have you schedule that to keep a closer eye and make sure nothing changes. By the way, you also win a prize - it's difficult to stump Beesie (luminal complications)...
