Infection?

imageI had an excisional biopsy done two weeks ago, I plan on calling my surgeons office tomorrow as it's to late now.

I had an intraductal papilloma removed, I went in a week ago for my post op and the look hasn't changed much.

I was to exited for my results to ask about the spontaneous creamy white discharge inside my inverted nipple and figured it was apart of the healing process as I'm sure he saw the stuff on my nipple, maybe he didn't guess it's not smart to assume. Also I now have a spot that's red/pink off and on and is mostly like tiny spider veins unless the red/pink color is there, flakey skin. Haven't been concerned about any of that because nothing is hot, no pain, well it's irritated like dry skin but I'm in a sports bra that rubs.

What I'm a little concerned about is a swollen marble size lymph node, I assume, in my armpit. No redness in my armpit where I can feel the marble, no pain andit's moveable.

My picture shows red where incision was and purple where spider veins are, the lump or swelling in just where the armpit meets the breast.

    If you're concerned about infection JessiGirl it is very important you call your surgeon's office. Your PCP may be an option too though your surgeon is likely first-line if they are local. If it really is an infection these can get serious quick! I don't mean to scare you though I am a frequent flyer at my local wound clinic for hand and foot infections so have some experience with this. Hopefully it's something else in your case....

    As far as "marble size lymph node" in your armpit area - please inform them of that too... I saw my PCP for a lymphedema referral recently and while there asked her to check an area on my node side where I had lumps and bumps including some hard ones. She believed that is scar tissue. I think she is right though still wonder a little bit. I already have my annual appointment with my OBGYN tomorrow so will have him recheck. Surgery does odd things to our bodies though if you're uncertain or concerned about anything it's important to let one of your providers know so they can check it out...

    Oh yes he was the first person I contacted. I left him a message on my portal last night as it was after hours. I’m waiting for them to open this morning to also give a ring as I hope to start antibiotics or as ever he sees fit.

    So I really didn’t think infection but better safe than sorry. He explained that “because you’re skinny the lymph node does feel larger to you” but he thinks it’s just a little enlarged and about half the size I thought. Makes sense to me and happy with the answer. Redness was just still healing process which I assumed as it’s not hot and the discharge he said could just be considered normal and I should gently clean it out when I shower. Hope this helps the next who has an enlarged lymph node after surgery but still have it checked because we are not doctors.
