Hi Everyone,

After only four weekly Taxol treatments I developed neuropathy in my toes and fingers. My oncologist took me off Taxol and is starting me on Abraxane. Has anyone had experience being treated with Abraxane? If you have, what side effects have you experienced? Experience with neuropathy on this med too? Have you used cold socks and mittens?

I just started abraxane after being on taxol since March. I iced during taxol and am continuing during abraxane. My MO said neuropathy risk is still there with abraxane.

Here's a journal article discussing neuropathy incidence with all the taxanes https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC43651...

Hi, I only did 1 treatment of Taxol, had an adverse reaction, and was switched to weekly Abraxane for 12 weeks. I did experience some neuropathy in my fingertips, but nothing too extreme. I could still do daily tasks like button a shirt and put on earrings. I lost my hair - head hair was pretty much gone by week 7, and eyelashes and eyebrows went one week after final chemo. Other SE: diarrhea, fatigue, dry mouth, dry eyes, dry skin, painful urination. This sounds like a bad list, and while it was not a fun time, it was not absolutely terrible either. More like 12 weeks of having a bad hangover or being on the verge of the flu. Let me know what else I can answer for you, and take care!
