Sorry about the thread, if it is talked over a bit but I work two job so time is a bit of a crunch for me.

I had surgery for inguinal hernia about 5 years, I have been suffering symptoms and the growth felt diseased/itching-sickly intitially but I had no idea what to do. Now its 5 years later, about a year and a half ago the area of my lymph nodes on my right arm started aching along with the chest.

I have a rough idea of the female side of this, breast cancer got my mom in her 50'es.
I don't have any idea about the screening process or where I go? I got the run around at a clinic-hospital I went to, they didn't address any of the symptoms I reported besides giving me an appointment for an x-ray (which I couldn't go to, since my job was firing people and I loss my medical insurance). I am working on figuring out a way to pay for said tests alone, so I definitely need to know what I am working toward before I can figure out the total. Thanks for any help.

    Hi!

In the United States, mammograms are free. I'm not sure where you're from, but you might be able to get an appointment at a Breast Care Center. Do you have a primary care physician? To get a diagnostic mammogram (which included meeting with a radiologist), I had to get a referral from my PCP. For a regular mammogram, I think I just needed to call to get an appointment. Good luck!

Is it possible to do a virtual (tele-health) visit with your primary care physician? He/she may be able to refer you to an imaging center with more convenient days/hours.

If you are in the U.S., Open Enrollment for health insurance through healthcare.gov runs from Sunday, November 1, until Tuesday, December 15, 2020. Coverage begins January 1, 2021. In the meantime, see if the physician and imaging center will work with you on a payment plan or discounted rate.

OswaldLF - iIm sorry you are going through this. A BC center in your area should be able to help with diagnostics and might have information on how to pay help. Do you qualify for Medicaid? People in forums below, male breast cancer probably have good information

Ditto what the others have said... Regarding Open Enrollment if you are in the U.S. see if your state has a state exchange vs. healthcare.gov. I'm in PA and we just started state exchange - I know other states have them too. I found the healthcare.gov plans in my area very restrictive as far as where I could go and it was hardly cheaper (for me) than the private market place. I quit looking at the site after the first couple of years. This year the state exchange PA just started will make a world of different for next year! The plans are very good - like the private market plans which are then discounted depending on income. I'm not sure how they are going to afford it though it will be great for at least a year. I'm hoping you can benefit from such a thing If you're in the U.S. and If your state has an exchange....

Please check back in and let us know where things are at, ok?

I don’t know the US health system costs, but the least expensive option for you would be to get referred to an ultrasound facility. I was diagnosed this way.
