Nipple pain and discharge - What to expect?
I have a doctor appointment in the morning, however it is a new doctor and this is a bit out of my knowledge. I'm a proactive patient but I do not know what to expect, ask for if not offered, etc.
I have had breast cancer twice, but I have never had these symptoms. I have 1 natural breast and 1 DEIP breast---so I am not able to compare size.
In 2017 my left breast had random shooting pain in it, several times a month and enough to wake me up. I had a LOT of other systems that made me see my OBGYN, however the shooting pain is what got me a mammogram, ultrasound and a cancer dx 5 days later. Since that time, no one has ever found anything of concern other than one lump that was biopsied and confirmed benign. All of my malignant tumors have been in my right breast.
Fast forward, this week my natural, left nipple has become increasingly sensitive to now simply painful. Could be just in my head but I almost thing it has got worse just in the last 6 hours. Out of curiosity, I tried to express, brownish fluid came out.
If not offered, should I request a mammogram? Ultrasound? Some other test I am not aware of?
TIA

yes you should go in right away. I had discharge from my nipple even blood. I thought it was something i had worn maybe it got scraped so I told the doctor she kinda went like huh🤔but i went in for mammogram then ultrasound n thats when they said i need more tests biopsy was scheduled n the results came back and I have cancer by my nipple 11 centimetres. I was shocked still in shock. Went to see the surgeon n he said i need an mri and that made it more clear what sizetumour they were dealing with. First visit he said lumpectomy but after Mri he said i need the whole breast removed. I m crying and trying to deal with it. Going to see the surgeon again to find out more and my surgery set for the 24. Good luck I hope you get better news than i did

GreenEyes - FIrst thing - not to panic. Discharge can be many things or nothing, but because of your past history, yes I would ask for a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound.

First, just want to send support to GreenEyes and Sonig. I agree with Sonig and MinusTwo- GreenEyes, it's important you call your doc so you can begin the evaluation process....
