hi all,

I was diagnosed with BRCA 2 in 2001 after my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was in my 20s at the time and was taken aback by doctor recommendations of hysterectomy and mastectomy. I went on to marry and have two children before finally deciding in 2017 to start the prophylactic procedures. The hysterectomy was first in 2017, followed by double nipple-sparing prophy mastectomies, followed by reconstruction in 2019-2020. My final surgery was in January of this year.

For anyone who is considering preventative surgeries or who has any questions about my journey at all, I’m happy to share.
