Good evening ladies. I had a BMX with reconstruction almost 3 weeks ago. Today I saw plastic surgeon and was so excited about having drains removed that I forgot to ask about a lump I felt in my right breast- the non cancer side. I know it’s not cancer. Pathology on right breast is clean. I’m sure it has more to do with reconstruction. Is thi normal? I may call on Monday and ask about it. Everything looks well and is healing well. I’m just wondering what this lump is. I’ve felt it practically since I came home from hospital.

kdholt - oh no - another new thread. A batch of us have been trying to follow along with your progress but you've started yet another new one. Better to post on one of those where people have already been contributing and stick to one.

The lump you are feeling is most likely a seroma/ hematoma or fat-necrosis.

Where are you feeling it? (Upper, middle, near the underarm?) and what does it feel like (smooth? Hard? Small? Big? Moves?)

I have lumps in one of my breasts as a result of diep flap as well. My plastic surgeon told me that it is transplanted fat cells which lumped together. He told me to massage the lumps to get everything to break apart. In my case, the massage has definitely helped, although for a month after surgery I still have some lumps in there. I will be having stage 2 surgery, so I am hoping that he can get rid of the lumps at the same time.
