Discolored Patch - 1 year post radiation?

I noticed on my radiated breast that I have a discolored patch. It looks like a very light bruise but not red or purple more light tan. I'm 15 months out from completing radiation. I can't tell if this was always there or not because my breast used to be tan all over from radiation, but the all over discoloration has faded. It's unclear to me if this is just what's left or something else is going on. It's a little scary to me because this is where the tumor was. Still, that's why that area was treated the most with radiation, so def potential for lasting from that.

I sent a picture to my oncologist on my patient portal and have my quarterly check-in visit this week. I was just curious to see if anyone else experienced this before I completely freak out that cancer came back in my skin.

Poised - I'm assuming you meant you send a picture to your MO? I would reach out to your radiation oncologist. Radiation causes permanent changes in so many ways. Hope skin discoloration is all you have.

    Hi there,

It ended up being just a normal discoloration post radiation. The whole breast area was initially tan but the one area where they really targeted left what looks like a sun damage spot. I was given a bleaching cream by the dermatologist at my cancer center to help it also fade.

The skin near my lumpectomy scar had discoloration similar to what you described. It looks like a bruise. MO was not concerned. She believed it was a result of the radiation. I’m glad to hear that your discoloration is just that, discoloration
