Popping feeling

Hi Everyone.

First, let me say that these boards are wonderful. I read them often. Bessie, DJMammo and others are such an asset to this community. I am 39. Mom diagnosed with BC at 59. Negative for the multi-panel gene test.

I very likely overdo the breast self-exam. Sometimes, if I am using my middle finger (which I know is not the right way to the BSE), I feel a popping sensation in the left upper, outer quadrant. No implants. Almost likely I am popping one of this sheets of plastic bubble wrap. I think I replicate it in the right breast. But, not certain.

I think it is just my breast tissue going over my ribs.

I've had several mammos and US. Regularly mammo in Feb. 2021.

anyone else experience something similar?

    Hi peytab:

When you had the uultrasounds, did you tell the technician or radiologist of this and point out the region to them? If you are concerned it is being missed you can request an MRI.

Never had that specific area viewed on US.

I guess I am asking if this sounds concerning. I know you never know until you have imaging.

I do not feel anything hard or any sort of lump.

    peytab:

My own cancer initially felt concerning to me because I had not previously had a lump with the characteristics it had, but it felt benign to two doctors. So I think if you feel something in your breast that concerns you, particularly given a family history of breast cancer, you should mention it to your doctor and try to have it imaged.

I do have another question but believe I should stick with this tread.

Have any of you ladies done a whole-breast ultrasound? I am thinking about having one 6 months after mammo. I am in St. Louis only one hospital offers it. What was your experience like

I have not had any ultrasounds where they didn't look at the entire breast. I guess that's what you're calling a "whole breast" ULS?

What has your doc said about your prior mammograms? If you're concerned, maybe you can get the doc to order a diagnostic mammogram with ULS instead of just a screening mammo. However if there had been any questionable issues with your prior mammograms, you would have had a call back for a diagnostic & ULS.
