Invasive component?
My needle biopsy result states I have LCIS. Invasive component can not be ruled out. (Cancer)
Crap... IDC in right breast. Luckily low grade. Bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction Nov 6th.
Was not even giving the LCIS on left a second thought until my surgeon told me she is taking lymph nodes on left side as well...
Anyone here end up with a little cancer hidden in the LCIS? Usually aggressive?
Thx in advance

When excisions are done on LCIS there is about a 20% chance that there will be invasive cancer, IDC or ILC (or DCIS) found. As far as I know, there is no relationship asto whether or not it is aggressive.

I assume you were diagnosed with classic LCIS (not florid (FLCIS) or pleomorphic LCIS (PLCIS).) As with most things LCIS/FLCIS/PLCIS, there is can be controversy in diagnosis/treatment, especially with the FLCIS/PLCIS because FLCIS/ PLCIS were more recently described. FLCIS and PLCIS are much less common than classic LCIS. LFCIS/PLCIS are usually thought to be more aggressive (more at risk for becoming invasive) than classic LCIS.
In this tiny study, about 25% of the florid LCIS/PLCIS cases had microinvasion, while none of the classic LCIS cases did. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33047861/
I can't find any relevant studies when I use 'LCIS with concurrent IDC' as a search term in Pubmed.
Wishing you all the best on your bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. If I had IDC in one breast and any kind of LCIS in the other, I'd also be strongly considering bilateral mastectomies too.

They found LCIS in my right breast after a biopsy last July. They did further biopsies in other suspicious areas in same breast and found ALH. I had an excisional biopsy of both the LCIS and ALH areas and nothing else was found. Due to the LCIS finding, strong family history, tons of false positives and very dense breast I opted for a prophylactic mastectomy. Had DTI procedure on 8/14. My pathology report was fine. They did find LCIS is my left breast but no cancer at all on either side.

thx for the replies everyone.....
At original visit, my surgeon drew a big X on the LCIS and said this is NOT cancer.
After tumor board and review with radiologist, she said she would take the lymph nodes....darn...
I feel optimistic about my diagnosis still, but having to wait three weeks for my surgery is really playing with my head.
Thx again

Sending best wishes for your upcoming surgery and pathology.
Looking back I had an oval asymmetry on my outer right side, and 3 biopsies. One of which was sprung on me before doing biopsy #1. One came back a fibroadenoma. The 2nd area the radiologist that read my report saw, and called BS to order 2nd biopsy came back LCIS. #3 BS still wasn't convinced (I guess?) that there wasn't anything else in there took it out during surgery for my cancer side. Also, came back as LCIS.
I try not to worry about it of course, but my tumor was mixed. Ductal with lobular features. Mixed has good prognosis, however, I've read where this type has shown higher percentage of getting 2nd cancer in contralateral breast.

surgery was 11/6 and no final pathology yet... no lymph nodes on cancer side. So happy so far.
I went bilateral mastectomy straight to implants. Very happ
