Lump in “healthy” breast?

Options

hey all,

I’m 26 years old and I had stage 1 breast cancer in my right breast diagnosed March 2019, segmental mastectomy in March 2019, chemotherapy may-November 2019, radiation December-January 2020 and last week my partner felt a lump on my left previously healthy breast. Went and got examined by oncologist who says he feels it too, said it’s super tiny and “not freak out worthy”, sending me for mammogram and ultrasound. Well...

I AM totally freaking out. My hair is just starting to look like hair again, I’m just starting to recover, my oncologist won’t prescribe anything to cope with the crippling anxiety... HELP

the waiting for tests and results sucks so much!

If your MO won't prescribe, perhaps your gp will? The thing is the fast acting ones all have risk of dependency. The other option is an ssri but it takes a while to kick in...2-3 weeks for cipralex for ex. I take it you're not in a legalized cannabis area? That's what people tend to reach for where I live...

When is your mammo & ultrasound?

Moth, thanks for the reply. Perhaps I'll call my GP and ask her if she would be able to prescribe me something for the waiting period. I'm always afraid of sounding pill seeking...

Still waiting to hear when they've booked the mammogram and ultrasound for but my oncologist said it would be ASAP since he said he knows I'll be "freaking out" lol.

Vistaril is an antianxiety med that can be used prn (as needed). It's not addictive. It helps slow thoughts down though can be sedating during the day. Some GP's are open to prescribing the meds moth talked about "as needed" with no refills - maybe 20 or 30 to the prescription. It's worth asking about. You have some options....

Thank you guys for the suggestions. I talked with my GP yesterday and she kindly gave me a short term prescription for some Ativan. I’m going to hopefully meet with someone this week to talk about the ongoing anxiety as well since this won’t end when we find out what this lump is, either way.

In the meantime I’ve pretty much completely lost hope. It’s hard not to just give in to that feeling..
