Ruth--wonderful story about Biden's compassion! Thanks!
Sandy--I hope you and your husband come through this OK. You've had your share of medical challenges lately and I'm sure wishing the best for you!
I can't watch the Barrett hearings any longer. . . .
Sandy, you put it succinctly as to "why Barrett couldn't give a straight answer as to whether voter intimidation is illegal, a peaceful transfer of power is possible, a President can pardon himself or anything in the Constitution enables him to unilaterally delay a Federal election, etc. The answer is blitheringly simple: she knows that should she reply the way anyone else with a law degree (or even still in law school) would, CinnamonHitler would yank her nomination in a heartbeat."
I know--I know--in the "real" world such decisions/compromises are commonplace, "necessary."
But I'm gonna say it anyway: if I were in her place (OK, fat chance, lol) and had to be that wishy-washy and evasive or lose the nomination--especially one put up by a Donald Trump--I'd give up the nomination.
What nomination is worth holding onto if it demands this kind of obeisance? Holy shit, is it career advancement at any price? It's a Supreme Court nomination, for God's sake, not a seat at the Last Supper! Has its luster so blinded her?
Guess so.
Doesn't ANYBODY have the balls to stand up and yell in the face of this naked crapola???
I'm so hungry for a Jimmy Stewart-as-Jefferson-Smith-in-Mr-Smtih-Goes-To-Washington moment I could SCREAM!!

Well, Susan Collins would know about dithering!!!
-
-
What I'm doing instead of watching Amy Barrett dither......Squats...(and nothing's more abhorrent to me than squatting...unless it's to do...you know....) And lunges? I'd sooner lunge out my third-story window onto Mitch McConnell's head!
-
Just got back from dropping off my ballot. Since I've voted, can I be exempt from election ads now?
-
Mirianda, someone needs to make an app for that where you can opt out of election ads from Tv, radio and internet!
When it is eventually a real thing you can do, people will stand around and say,”Can you believe people used to have to suffer through watching and hearing this campaign crap?!” and laugh while they hit the “voter opts out of election ads” button.....or simply direct Siri to do it for them....
-
Or have a button with a red censored sign you can post over the ad. Talk about a feeling of having control!
-
And while we’re at it, a button to bleep out Medicare supplement and advantage plans.

-
Many thanks to The Onion......because of it I have a few functioning, non-stressed-out brain cells left!

Miranda, I'm for Biden adding two seats to the SCOTUS. You know, the two McConnell stole from us.

Yes, I quit watching the way too famous for all the wrong reasons Barrett early on. I'm so with you Trill. If you have to do such contortions to satisfy the orange dung from the midst, why the hell ( other than getting as much on the record for later about this idiotic hearing instead of the Senate doing stimulus relief ) are we even bothering to have these sessions. I do know part of it is as well to plaster the idea everywhere that this weird woman is going to jump thru hoops to take away insurance coverage and help Trump destroy the ACA as well.
Maybe even find votes to negate for the idiot. I mean this is such a transparent circus. I do think the Reps. are just laying the groundwork for themselves to be looked at in a VERY negative fashion over this. They have not been doing to well anyway. So, while it may be hard to tell ( have to keep track of some of those poll numbers for those needing to win their seats back this time out ) it may end up showing up before election that they have slipped themselves even further down the rung of the ladder into Rep hell. Going to be watching. Between these things and the orange dung beetle squatting in the WH, while not doing his I need the ego strokes rallies, I hope it all goes up in flames for the.

Jackie, I agree 100%!
Amy Barrett is such a prevaricator I wouldn't be surprised if someone slipped in something like this:
"Judge Barrett, it's a little off-topic but what is your thinking about Covid-19? Have any views on it you'd like to express here?"
Barrett: "Um....well.....I'm afraid I just can't go so far as to state that I'm convinced that it's actually a, you know, illness as such--it would be precipitous of me to say anything here and now in this forum on that point....no matter that millions have suffered from this thing...that hundreds of thousands have died from thing.....it's just not my place at this stage to ahead of arguments, conferring with my clerks and colleagues, listening to briefs, and writing an opinion state my position on that." [She curtsies.]

Ruth--- BIG HAH-HAH!!!!
I just hope that what I assume are Democrats going to the polls early and standing in those long lines don't drive the DT fools nuts and they come out in horrid droves to keep their guy in.......don't know how many are disillusioned and won't venture forth for him this time but am not underestimating their zeal, especially in those key places.....
-
P.S. Megyn, you were far more entertaining farting on live TV....

Dropped off my ballot a few hours ago. Fortunately early/absentee/mail-in ballot is easy where I am. I do not know if it would be as easy in a more rural area. But at least there is not an effort to make it more difficult. Stories out of Texas, scary. Maybe they deserved to lose the Alamo. One interesting candidate (Independent) running for US Senate, does not have a chance, but neither does the democrat running against the incumbant republican. So I voted for the Independent who has a very interesting prespective on the US obligation to help cleanup the plastic in the oceans. Hoping for a Biden/Harris victory, as well as local democrats winning.

I don't follow Demi Lovato and don't care about the Billboard Awards, but today read this article about her performance at last night's show and I'm thinking, wow, Demi Lovato for president:
She released "an anti-Trump anthem, which she co-wrote with Finneas, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and Eren Cannata...... some "fans" on Instagram even warning her to steer clear of politics, lest she "ruin" her career. Lovato responded to that backlash with, "You do understand as a celebrity, I have a right to political views as well? … I literally don't care if this ruins my career. This isn't about that. My career isn't about that. I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in."
She performed the protest song publicly for the first time last night at the awards show, unflinchingly belting: "Commander in Chief, honestly/If I did the things you do/I couldn't sleep, seriously/Do you even know the truth?/We're in a state of crisis, people are dying/While you line your pockets deep/Commander in Chief/How does it feel to still be able to breathe?"
Here's the official video
