edited October 2020 in Waiting for Test Results

Hi all,

I’ve been lurking and reading here for a few days, so I thought I might as well post.

I noticed a lump in my right breast about two weeks ago. I called my OB and she put in an order for a mammogram and an ultrasound. I’m 34 with implants, and have never had a mammo before.

I tend to think worst case scenario all the time, so I really tried the opposite here and told myself it was a cyst or nothing to worry about. I took a personal day from work, planned to decorate the house for fall after my appointment.

Anyway, the mammogram tech asked me a few times if I had family history, and I do not. (We do have ovarian cancer history.) They asked me to wait and said I did need the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech called the doctor in a few times, and they made faces. They told me I had a moderate chance of cancer, and needed to schedule a biopsy.

My reports were uploaded today, and I saw the 4B on there. It also said 1cm architectural distortion.

I’m trying to stay away from google. I’m waiting to schedule my biopsy, and go from there.

I’m giving myself today to wallow and be sad, and then tomorrow I will go back to kicking ass at life until I have answers.

That's good your biopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. I hope it all goes well and you get some happy results back from it!! Just remember to use the ice packs frequently that day and recovery won't be bad at all :)

I actually have the same on my report B-raids4 and architecture distortion. I also have calcification in the palpable mass of 1cm. They gave me the same out look. A chance of cancer. Definitely scary. I had my biopsy yesterday. Wasn't painful and recovering fine. I just can't wait for the results so I can breath and plan for whatever is next.

I had my biopsy on Thursday. On Friday, the nurse navigator called me and said she'd follow up on Wednesday (tomorrow) to make sure I received my results and to see if I have any questions on next steps. I'm hoping that means I'll get them today.

I'm sending positive vibes your way!!!!! I have my bopisy on Monday for 1 of 2 masses that were found. They refer to it as lobulated hypoechoic mass and a whole paragraph of other terms I have no clue what they mean, by I did see BIRADS 4. I'm terrified, I didn't expect my first mammogram to go this far, but here we are. I feel confident in the breast radiologist and my surgeon, they've been extremely helpful. Regardless of how this plays out the breast surgeon is taking over my breast health, for lack of a better term. I hope everything comes back ok. 😊

I got my results on Friday. I have a radial scar. I’m going to call the breast surgeon on Monday.

    Apk, that's great news.

Radial scars are benign. The only problem is that on imaging their appearance mimics the appearance of breast cancer. So often when a radial scar is found through a needle biopsy, an excisional biopsy is recommended to remove the entire lesion and examine it under a microscope. I've seen this happen quite a few times with people who have come through here, and I can't recall a case where the final result was anything other than a radial scar. In fact a recent study suggested that excision is not necessary because the upgrade rate is so low (it was 1.6% in the study). So it will be interesting to see what the breast surgeon suggests. Let us know!

Thanks!! All went well this afternoon, should know results by end of week. I'm terrified but hoping things come out benign.
