Surgical time for Diep flap

Hi ladies. I’m hoping someone can give me some info re: how long diep flap surgery should take. My sister has been in surgery for 12+ hours and I’m starting to worry.

Mine was about 10 hours, plus about 4 hours in recovery before my family could see me. It's a long, complicated surgery. But totally worth it.

If you're really worried, you can usually call the OR to see if she's in recovery yet.

Trisha, Thank you for your information. It immediately made my anxiety go down! Her husband has been keeping in touch w hospital & keeping me informed. She was told 8-10 hrs, so that’s why I was worried. I’m so glad you are happy w your reconstruction and from all I have read and heard, long term, this is the way to go

My DIEP surgery was over 11 hours, and there were TWO surgeons working on me (one for each side, lol).

Hello ladies. Update on my sister: was in surgery 15 hrs. Many complications but she is stable today. Thanks again for your help.
