Evista withdrawal symptoms

Options

Hello, I've been taking Evista for 5 years and my Doctor said I could stop taking it at this point. I will discontinue taking it next month and was wondering if anyone experienced any withdrawal symptoms from stopping?

Hi. I took it for 3 years (many years ago) and had no withdrawal symptoms but then I didn't 'feel' any different while I was on it. I was originally on Tamoxifen but couldn't tolerate it and was pre-menopausal so my onc suggested the Evista. I'd take it again if it was recommended. Good luck!

Thank you Jaybird, I didn't have any trouble while on it, so fingers crossed it will be easy to go off as well.

    Hi kimberly62,

Sorry - I just saw your reply! Maybe I took it for 5 years too? I think it's because it's not shown to be any more effective beyond 5 years?

I had new primary 4/2018 and after BMX, chemo and rads my (new, because I moved) onc wanted me to take an AI. Started me on generic Aromasin but it was too costly (tier 3) with my insurance so he switched me to generic Arimidex. I've been on it for 2 years now with not much joint pain but I take a lot of supplements - 2 specifically for joint health - so the drug is tolerable for me. I'm 60. He says 10 years total for me due to 2x BC. UGH.

I'm surprised that Evista isn't prescribed more often. I rarely see it mentioned on these boards - unless I'm missing those posts?

I hope all is well with you!

    Jaybird ~
