Change in shape of one breast

My name is Lynn and I’m 54. I have very dense breasts to begin with and my breast have always been perky so to say. During the stay at home order I stopped wearing a bra unless I was leaving the house. I recently noticed that my left breast, which has always been the bigger one, looked as though it is sagging and off to the left side some. I am unable to find a lump. I have what feels like a pulling sensation just under the nipple that goes straight up to the 12 o’clock position. Almost like a muscle strain. Sometimes I’ll feel a pull in my under arm but it could be my imagination as I’m hyper aware of my left breast. Also aware of left arm on and off.

I saw my general practitioner two days ago. She did a quick breast exam and didn’t feel anything. She attributes the change in breast shape to my age and the muscle pull feeling to not wearing a bra. She wrote an r/x for an anti inflammatory. Also did an EKG which was normal. While I feel she listened to me I don’t know if she heard me. I always worry with breast issues. They scare me. My mother had BC which they believe was caused by HRT treatment. I’m scheduled for my annual mammogram towards the end of October. Tried to get in earlier but they are completely booked and are scheduling appointments for December.

I’m now wondering if I should see my OB/GYN. I hate this. I know better to stay off Google but I can’t help myself. I’ve had cysts before all which went away on their own. I’m anxious!!!!

I agree with your PCP. Sorry to say you need to put that bra back on every day. (hate the damn things) You can of course go see your GYN for a second "feel". The GYN would have more experience with breasts. With your mammogram is scheduled in a month, maybe you can ask your GYN by phone or My Chart is she thinks its urgent.

Have you had breast cancer before? I see that you joined many years ago, so I'm wondering if you've had surgery and it's a scar tissue problem?

    Hi,

I did join several years ago when my mother had BC. Her BC was believed to have been HT related. I, myself have not had BC or any breast surgery. I did make an appointment with the OB/GYN two weeks from now.

Thank you for replying. I’ve got a sports bra on today and it seems to be helping some. It certainly can’t hurt. Just hoping to get answers and peace of mind soon.
