Hey all, 26 y/o, nearly a year out from my last chemotherapy, finished rads in January. On Lupron and daily Letrozole now. Hair is a mullet and the longest parts are touching my shoulders but the past 2 weeks it has started to fall out again. It’s causing me to have severe panic attacks. Everytime I run my fingers through my hair I look at my hands and have multiple strands lying there. Anything I can do? Any suggestions? Advice? Help please, somebod

I'm sorry, I probably don't have anything terribly helpful to say other than, I feel you. I am 2+ years out from starting hormone therapy and my hair is still thinning. It doesn't come out in clumps but I lose a whole lot more than I should every day and I definitely have some almost bald spots. I've tried the laser helmet thing with no results and just purchased Rogaine last month. Hoping that works... at this point I'd be thrilled if it would just stop falling out!

In the scheme of things, hair loss from Tamox or AIs seems like a small problem - and unfortunately our MOs often treat it that way - but it can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves and how accepting we are of taking these meds.

A lot of people on this board have found that Biotin supplements help stop hair loss, although it takes a few months to have an effect.

The laser helmet or Hair Max laser brush also works for many people (but not everyone, to Lexica's experience) but again it normally takes 3-4 months to see any impact.

I take 10,000 mcg biotin daily and I have a laser helmet that I use. I haven't tried the rogaine yet. My hair is pretty thin these days but I feel like I have stopped thinning more at least.

Also make sure you get enough protein in your diet daily. That can help as well. But unfortunately, for a lot of us the anti hormonals do a number on our hair production.

I know its hard, I am experiencing the same problem with tamoxifen, the treatments, surgery and everything else is very hard. I feel for you because I am in the same situation, I have many days where i have cried over my hair thinning and its still hard to overcome this some days. I am on tamoxifen for only 4 months, but my hair has started to thin out after 2 months. Biotin helps, but its takes a while to see results. You could see a Dermatologist and see what he offers you, I saw one the other day and it was a mix of emotions, good and bad. But it might help. I know it hard with hair loss and I know the doctors are not sympathetic to our problems of hair loss. You might want to speak to someone professional, I started speaking to a psychologist and it has helped.

Lack of estrogen also causes hair loss (aren't we lucky) so the meds, doing their job, is causing it.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Many gals have thyroid issues along with breast cancer and hypothyroidism can cause hair loss...just to add insult to injury, right?

My hair used to be incredibly thick. Not anymore. The "gift" that keeps on giving.

    Hi, Brittandherboobs, and everyone.

I'm on letrozole, too, and losing hair. I don't know if I will even get a hair topper because if

I keep getting more and more side effects, besides that, it's over for good with the AIs.

I will take my chances with immune boosting foods, trying to keep stress hormone levels low,

and mostly trusting in the Higher Power. Beesie and Rah2464, thx for the info about the biotin.

Hi, I was told if your vit D level is low it will effect hair growth. I take biotin, vit K2 , and D3. My D level went from 33 to 56 this past August.

After 2 months on Femara and 3.5 months off HRT hair thinning is becoming a problem. I hope the laser band I've been using for a while will work . I also use topical products which are supposed to help regrowth and want to add biotin to the mix. While I wait with my fingers crossed, I've decided to at least make the hair I have look better/ thicker with densifying products. The Nioxin line seems to work very well. It is not a solution but at least it makes me feel less self-conscious and reduces my anxiety.

Hi guys, my last Chemo was at the end of March. My hair actually started to grow back during the Taxol treatments. After all my Chemo was done they put me on Femara. I read about possible side effect of hair thinning and went out and got some Rogaine, Nioxin (from Sally's) and started to take Biotin. My hair started to thicken up and grow . After about a month it was about 2 inches long so could style it like a boys hair cut. Only problem was it was grey :( They tell you not to use any chemicals on it for at least 6 mo. So I went and bought some Henna. it worked great gave me a nice natural color, almost like I had when I was younger. So far I have done the Henna twice and am getting ready to do it a 3rd time as I have new growth that is coming in grey. My hair is still only about 2.5 inches long now but it is thick. My hair never did grow fast so for it to get back to my shoulders will probably take a long time. I have cut back on the Rogain to only once a day and the Nioxin only when I style it to help thicken it up.

Hope this helps keep the faith we've got this...
