Hi all! It's been close to 2 years since I've posted. I've been followed every six months by U/S and yearly mammogram due to the cysts and fibroadenomas that I have. I just had my yearly mammo and latest U/S last week and a new lump was found. The radiologist thinks it's another fibroadenmoa but it is new and big for being new IMO. So I had my follow up with my breast surgeon yesterday just to go over the results and she wasnt concerned until she did the physical exam and felt a swollen lymph node. So now I have a core biopsy scheduled for next week. I'm a freaking out a bit, mostly because of the lymph node and I had a fine needle biopsy at my first go around with this and remember that a couple of them were painful so I'm really dreading the core needle.

In y'alls experience, how serious is the lymph node??

The core biopsy isn't that painful. The area is numbed first , which does tingle a bit. I'm wondering why they didn't do a sonogram on the area ?

I did have an ultrasound of the mass. My breast surgeon said that she will do an ultrasound of the node and make the final decision to biopsy it at that point.

I just wanted to post an update. I was able to get an earlier appointment for the biopsy which was today due to a cancellation. When I went, she did an another ultrasound and said the lymph node looked normal and that the mass definitely looks like a fibroadenoma. She gave me the choice to biopsy or wait for the 6 month follow up US, so I chose that option.
