3.5 week wait for diagnostic mammo and US

Just need to vent. Feeling alone in my anxiety and I know you all get it...

UGH. Two more days. This is my second call back. This time it's a focal asymmetry at 12 o'clock position. Last time it was architectural distortion. I had my first mammo and US 10 years ago when I found a lump (turned out to be a cyst). I have gone consistently every year, except 2019... I skipped it. Of course it's hard not to think NOW this time it's cancer... my appointment is Friday...

    You're almost there. You know waiting is the worst. The vast majority of call-backs are for completely benign things, so try to believe that the odds are for you.

    I was in your same situation about 2 weeks ago. I had to go back for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound for my left breast. My 1st mammogram and ultrasound was back in 2016 I was 36yrs. old and it turned out to be as simple cysts. Now I'm 40 and my mammogram showed focal nodular asymmetry in the left breast. Went back for another mammogram of left side and also had an ultrasound, it turns out my cyst grew. And my cyst are benign... Wishing you all the best, waiting really sucks!!!

    This wait is crazy. When I was called back I assumed a week wait, tops. But because people are catching up after Covid (I live in a recently improved hot spot) they were booked out weeks. I cried after I scheduled it, knowing how the wait felt before.

    1thing - you can take heart that is they though it was critical or urgent they would likely squeeze you in somewhere. Hopefully this means they just want a more thorough look.

    No signs of cancer. Radiologist said he could not determine if focal asymmetry was a cyst or normal breast tissue. Based on an algorithm of my hx he recommended 6 month follow ups (MRI alternating with mammogram) My personal risk is 22% based on that algorithm. He suggested genetic testing be considered.
