Hi,

In January I was given B3. I was apprehensive about waiting and watching because I have strong family history. (Thankfully, I'm BRCA negative.) So, I went for a second opinion in March at the U of Michigan breast center--a much larger and dedicated, facility than my regional hospital. I am 56. The center repeated all the tests and the radiologist ultimately agreed with the B3 I was given two months prior. The description is " 7mm low-density, circumscribed, gently lobulated mass in the upper central right breast. No associated microcalcifications." It was not not physically palpable by the technologist, and neither imaging center could find evidence of a corresponding mass on US. The Michigan US technologist really tried to find it.....spent a very long time. I felt much better with two radiologists both agreeing on B3, and have for the most part put it out of my mind.

But my follow-up in Michigan is now approaching. I go in 2 weeks. And I'm starting to feel quite anxious. Covid, of course, just adds to the stress. I'm writing this because I'm wondering whether there are any active members on the forums who successfully made it through the 2 years of 6 month follow-ups without any adverse findings? Did anyone "graduate" out of this club that could provide me some reassurance? I realize this is a place for support, and it seems from reading many posts, that not everyone comes back with updates. I'd like to assume that's because they received good news, and didn't need continued encouragement. (BTW, you are all so extremely helpful and supportive....thank you!). I spoke to Bessie via private messaging, and she suggested I start this topic. I'd really like to hear from anyone who made it through the 6 months and was then put back on annual appointments. Or other positive outcomes....

    It seems unlikely that people who haven't had cancer would stick around here after consecutive rounds of clear imaging.

    We're sorry you're here and worrying. As AliceBastable mentions, most people who have been here with concerns that turn out to be nothing or get the all-clear won't likely come back to let us know there was nothing to worry about. We have had many, many members here with imaging concerns that have never returned, so that should, in it's own way, be positive news!

    Please keep us posted with what happens at your follow-up in 2 weeks. We're sending good thoughts your way!

    Good luck with your upcoming imaging. I do have a friend who in her 40's was doing the 6 mos. mammo and us for dense breasts. She is doing fine and we are 59 now! She is back on an annual schedule.

    I understand the anxiety. I'm up this month-it comes so fast. I so hope it's a birads 2 which it should be but until the day gets here and it's over, I worry.

    Thank you to all who responded Ctmbsikia.It is good to hear your friends got through all the 6 month checks. Thank you for sharing. At 56, I’m anxious because I don’t find a lot of benign explanations at my age. I was on HRT but only for about 6 months. You are so right, the appointment came so fast. Despite feeling like days are so long due to pandemic.
    What day is your appointment? Mine is 25th. I will be thinking of you. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone and having a hard time controlling the worry talk in my head.

    I used to always say worrying is a waste of time. There's no use worrying about something until that something happens.

    Why I can't do this is puzzling, although I am more than fairly confident I will do just fine. I have a mammo on the 22nd, and see the BS on the 28th. I can't wait to ask her when I can be done with her, or at least get a year before having to go back.

    WHAT IS DENSED BRAST?

    AND WHAT IS BIRADS 3?

    I have strong family history of breast cancer and i have normal echogenic fibro glandular tissue & hypoechoic fat lobules seen what this means ?

    hmulunhea, welcome to Breastcancer.org! BI-RADS 3 means that there is a finding that is most likely benign, but should be followed in a shorter period of time to see if the area of concern changes. Many members here have had similar findings than yours, but until you get responses and advice from others, you may want to read some of the information you'll find in our main site on:
