bi-lateral lumpectomy 8/19, STILL waiting for pathology results

I had my post op visit scheduled for Monday 8/31 and dr canceled it right as I was leaving to go there, they said they did not have all the pathology back yet. It's now Thursday 15 days post surgery and still path not complete. Is this normal? I am beginning to be worried that the results are delayed because they saw something they didn't like and went back to take another look at it. Or maybe even worse, they lost my samples and I will never know my full pathology?!

Please someone talk me down off the ledge. This was supposed to be easy peasy for me, she said everything looked good, very good prognosis. Now I am worried it is much worse than they thought. Why are the bloody results taking so long?

Also I really wanted Dr to look at my breast, the cancer side. Big hard lump in it and tender. Not hot or red tho, so not obviously infected. Rt side healing perfectly, no lump, much less tender. Which I understand, the left side obviously had a lot more poking and pulling with having both a lumpectomy and SNB, but I want to know everything is healing properly.

arabians, waiting really does suck. I'm sorry you've had to wait so long! I hope you hear very soon.

are you in the US or another country ? I have massive anxiety around waiting for test results so in your shoes I would be quite upset. Personally I had a BMX and a week and a day later I had my follow up appt with path results (minus the Oncotype that was not back yet) My suggestion is to call first thing tomorrow to get an explaination and /or update and also to discuss your concerns about the breast area . Did you ask if you could still come in when they called to cancel and they told you no? Or has the breast recovery issues cropped up in the last few days?

Most likely your path results are very similar to what your biopsy path results were- but the point is the waiting is very stressful ESP if this drags on to next week - hug

arabiansrock, is your forum name referring to Arabian horses? They are gorgeous animals! I read the book "And Miles to Go" about Witez II, the Arabian. Loved that book! Sad account of the war, etc., but still a wonderful read.

Hi Sunshine, yes we have and show arabian horses. My daughter has a 4 year old gelding, who is a total love bug who wants to be into everything. My son has an 18 year old mare who thinks she is a princess and acts like it. They are very elegant, sensitive and people oriented animals. Arabians connect very strongly with their owners. I would post pictures but I don't think this forum can do that.

Whatayear, yes I am in US. I have been calling, dr emailed and said she is very sorry about the delay and that her team was in contact with pathology andt they will call me as soon as the report is done. They had the nurse navigator call me about the lump. she said it is normal, probably a seroma, but call back if it gets worse. I'm just not very patient, I want to know for sure they got it all out!!!

Arabiansrock, I would LOVE to see photos of your horses. You can post an image if you look for the little photo/image/landscape icon above the box where you post a reply. I no longer have horses, but I do have a goofball Airedale Terrier!
