Have finished all of the process and have been percscribed generic letrozole. Just don't know about taking it. Already have hypothyroid and fluid retention and migraines... And hair loss due to meds. Can anyone give me feedback on this? I really don't want to take anything but Drs say I have to.

I know that everyone is different, so my experience won't necessarily be yours, but to encourage you, I took letrozole for about six months before surgery, and in some ways, felt in better health than before. I did get some achy bones, and a bit of stiffness but it was nothing that I couldn't live with and function quite normally. I also did not gain weight, and really didn't have much problem with it, and don't notice much different now that I'm off of it temporarily. For me, it was pretty much life as normal....as normal, anyway, as it can be on this journey. I did get a good bit of hair thinning, but part of that could have been stress from diagnosis. I won’t know til I go back on it after chemo how much that’s a real side effect.

I’ve been on it about a year. Aside from loosing most of my hair, this is the easiest AI I’ve been on. Arimadex and tamoxifen were hard for me. Painful.

Try it for a few months. If you develop se, you can change, or stop.

I took for 4 1/2 years after doing 5 of Tamoxifen. I did have bone loss which was caught on my lab work and had to start Prolia shots. My recommendation is that to have dental work done prior to starting Letrozole since it it does have the ability to cause bone loss. I also taking my meds regularly was important to keep cancer away as long as possible and was very compliant in taking them as a result. So far so good and diagnosed in 1999. Few close calls but ok so far.

Letrozole is generic Femara. You might want to read this thread:

    .

And while the following thread is about all of the AIs, many of the posts are from people on Femara, since it's so commonly prescribed:
