Anyone taking an AI for more than 10 years?

A few months ago I completed 10 years of anastrazole. I've continued to take it until my recent 6 month appointment with my oncologist. When I was diagnosed, 5 years was the protocol for an AI, but when I took the breast cancer index test, it indicated that I would benefit from an additional 5 years. My onco is fine if I stop taking it and fine if I continue. I'm going to stop for six months and see how I feel and if my bone density will improve. Anybody else stay on an AI for more than 10 years?

    Congrats!!!

    I am on AI almost 3yrs and my Onco told me she would be happy if I can stay 7yrs total. I have minor SE here and there but I plan to stay on it as long as I can.

    Please let us know how you feel and any changes either way.

    Thank you for the inspiration re AI taking 10yrs.

    Yes please let us know how it goes being off of it having done 10 years. I am 5 years now and plan for 5 more but I am really hoping that some of the side effects are reversible (high cholesterol, achey bones, high blood sugar, thin skin, thinning hair). It would be good to know if you notice anything different.

    Thank you both for responding. After 10 years, I didn't have the side effects that I did the first couple of years, and at this point I'm not sure what was from the AI and what was just normal aging! Cholesterol issues, lower bone density, hair thinning, so I'm hoping some of those things will improve. I have a lot of anxiety, so maybe that will improve too, although I kind of saw the AI as my security blanket! Wishing you both all the best on this journey none of us would have chosen.
