Starting chemo next week!

I'm newly diagnosed - stage 2a, er/pr-, Her2+ — Ispoke to my oncologist for the first time today. He wants to start me on chemo next Thursday, I just have to get an echo and a port placed before then. After weeks of waiting for various appointments and test results, I'm more than ready to actually start my treatment, even though I know chemo will be rough.

The oncologist said my chemo will be taxotere, carboplatin, herceptin, and perjeda, in a three week cycle with a total of six cycles. Anyone else have this regime? Any tips? I've read through many of the chemo side effects posts and I think I have a handle on the most common side effects, not that I'm looking forward to any of them.

Hi Melbo, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis... but you are in the right place with a sisterhood of strong women here to provide support, advice, or just a place to vent!

If you'd like, you can join us in the July 2020 chemo thread. Many of us are going through the same treatment as you (myself included).

Melbo - there are tons of threads for TCHP. And one good thing about HER2+, is it reacts well to treatment. You're right - its not fun but you can do it. Do join a current chemo group so you can share the journey. I still have friends from the chemo group I was in all those years ago.
