Diagnosed Today
Hello,
I am 36 years old and just diagnosed. I am absolutely terrified. I don't know what to make of the numbers, but everything is looking really bad. I have a beautiful 3 year old daughter and don't know how to handle this.
Thank you for any support.

Hi MominDC, deep breaths...I remember being in your spot and it was the toughest time (mentally) out of my whole ordeal so far. So much info being thrown at you, numbers, new terminology, and so many swirling thoughts. I’m 34 with 3 boys ages 6, 4, and 1.5. You’ll find a lot of support on this site! Once you get more answers and a treatment plan things will feel *a little* better. Please don’t hesitate to message me if you need someone to talk to!

It's definitely overwhelming and scary. Lean into your family and support system during this time. Also, research as much as you can. Fear of the unknown can be debilitating. If you can, meet with a few different doctors. Trust in your medical team is huge. I was diagnosed at 31 and I am now about to turn 39. It's a whirlwind in the beginning. Message me with any questions.

You are not alone. I was just diagnosed at 38... I had your same fears as well. Once I met with me team of amazing doctors and told my friends and family, the outpour of support made it easier. Cancer is not a death sentence but more of a curable disease...just remember that. Every step seems so scary, but one day at a time and once you get past each appointment, or procedure...it was not scary at all. Think positive, these forums are amazing, ask for help, ask questions...you will get through this like so many strong women before you!

i dont know why I felt compelled to search for the newly diagnosed tonight. But here i am. I normally check in with the "babies after cancer" threads.
For anyone reading this. I was diagnosed at 25 years old. I am now 34. That was 9 years ago yall. It is scary. It will bring you to your knees scary, however you are going to be ok. I was grade 3, stage 1, triple positive.
I moved on with my life after breast cancer. I was diagnosed when my daughter was 4 months old. Shes 9 now. I also went on to have 2 more children. (Twins) they turned 3 this year. I went back to college got my bachelors, and start my masters in 3 weeks. I run marathons... These are all things i thought would never happen. My life was over, or so I thought. Girl, whoever you are reading this...do NOT give this stupid cancer power over your mind. You will be ok. You will get it taken care of...youll have the surgery, youll do the chemo...whatever it takes. And then, you will stand up, straighten your shoulders and live the biggest life you could ever imagine.
Dont say why me. Cancer changed my life for the absolute worst...AND for the absolute best. You live a different way when you go through what you are/about to walk through. And you are going to help so many people when you get past this.
Yes, it will suck. Scans, surgery, chemo...all that will scare you out of your mind. Yes, you will spend hours glued to your phone/computer looking for answers. Yes you will read a statistic that makes your heart fall into your stomach.
Girl put that feeling down. Its heavy. And you, whoever you are...are gonna be fine. Message me if you like.
My thoughts and prayers are always with you all.

tatasister - great accomplishments. Thanks for the good post reminding everyone that things can turn out alright - or maybe even better.

tatasister- thanks for your post. It is certainly helpful to read how others have been able to move on and forward with their lives after treatment! Especially as a mom with young kids
