Diagnosed June 22, 2020.
So far I have just been diagnosed. ER+ PR- and HER2- Had my lumpectomy / sentinal mode bx. On July 16th. Also had my nipple and areola removed. Found invasive ductal carcinoma in my mipple and DCIS inside the breast. They removed 5 sentinel/ lymph nodes. They were all negative thank goodness. I see the radiation and medical oncologist tomorrow. I am nervous and scared about what they will tell me. I am supposed to have the onchotype dx testing . I am going to ask about that tomorrow. My mother had breast cancer DCIS. I am new to this forum in fact this is the first forum I have ever joined. Just looking for any advise / support that may be out there as I start this long journey. I also met with a plastic surgeon to discuss reconstruction which can not be done for about 1 year. Anyone else who has gone through nipple / breast reconstruction. They discussed breast implants. Not sure what to do honestly.

Tere - When you get a minute, go to My Profile and fill in your diagnosis & treatment to date.
This is the hardest time, before you have a plan. I found it helpful to join the group going through the same thing at the same time like Chemo July chemo club

There are sub groups for radiation and oncotype testing. And reconstruction. Check out the 'search' section on the left.
Here is a great thread with tips for chemo https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topics/706846?page=1

Sorry you've had to join us, but Welcome!
Do you have a copy of your pathology reports from your biopsy and surgery? If not, ask for copies when you see the medical oncologist tomorrow.
Being ER+, the MO should definitely order an Oncotype test - and hopefully has already done so. Do you know how large the area of invasive cancer was? Since it was in your nipple, I'm thinking it might have been quite small, and that could be the one hitch to getting an Oncotype score since normally Oncotype testing is only done on invasive tumors that are greater than 5mm in size (T1b tumors or larger).
I can't help on the reconstruction question - I know some women have had nipple removal as part of a lumpectomy but what I've seen more is that when the nipple has to be taken, the patient opts for a mastectomy. There is lots of discussion in the Breast Reconstruction forum on this board about nipple reconstruction after a mastectomy, and that might be helpful to you.
Good luck with the appointments and let us know how it goes. -
Welcome to our community, Terej079. We're so sorry you find yourself here, but we hope you find this to be a supportive place. The first weeks after a diagnosis can be incredibly overwhelming, as you are getting all of this information and don't know what to do with it yet, and don't have a plan in place. Hopefully after your appointment tomorrow, you have a better idea of what options are available to you, and you'll feel more in control once you have a treatment plan in place. Please keep us posted on how your appointment goes!
