Hi. I had a minor trauma to my breast cancer breast where I had lumpectomy 2 years ago. It started to bleed and few days after, I had my annual mammogram and it bled during the examination. Now 2 weeks later, it Is still bleeding droplets when I don’t wear a bra. When I got my mammogram, they also did an ultrasound because of the obliousbleeding but did not find anything. What could this be and which dr should I see if it does not stop bleeding.

I am sorry you are having this issue and no one responded in the last 12 hours.

Where is it bleeding from, the scar, underside of breast, nipple?????

Shame on them for not telling you how to follow up after you had your ultrasound!

Call either your breast surgeon or medical oncologist. If you are concerned it is cancer related, I would tell you I doubt it, relax. But, you absolutely should call one of your doctors and take their advice. Have a list of questions ready.

I hate call backs because they always call me when I am not prepared, so it is best to write down what you want to say to the doctor.

Please come back and let me know how you make out.

I would reach out to your breast surgeon--the one who did the lumpectomy.

    I hope you feel better!

Thank you. It drips from the nipple after I take off the bra. It doesn’t seem to bleed that much when it is in the bra. I have an appt with the oncologist in couple of days so I will speak to her. However, I believe the surgeon probably needs to figure it out. She saw me after the mammogram and ultrasound but we both just thought it will heal on it’s own. But it’s not. I will keep you posted.

My nipple on the lumpectomy side has a tendency to get dry and shriveled due to radiation if I don't moisturize it. Dry tissue can bleed. I rub a dab of Aquaphor on it when it starts looking odd. Definitely follow up with your breast surgeon, but in the meantime, see if Aquaphor helps.
