I had a unilateral mastectomy 2 years ago. No real issues this far. I did not get reconstruction. So the last week or so I've been having weird muscle tightening at the mastectomy site. I don't feel anything concerning but this is new. I'm wondering if it could be caused from lack of activity. I've been out of work since the end of April. I wasn't overly active but I did have a routine and worked 6 days a week. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I see the breast surgeon for a follow up on 7/14. Thank you

cccmc2, I'm sorry you've been having muscle tightening. I guess it could be from your change of routine. Some gentle stretching could help - I find stretching helps me. I'm glad you're seeing your breast surgeon in a few days.

I had a unilateral mastectomy, no recon, about 1.5 years ago, and I've had weird new muscle sensations the last month or so. I think it's because I'm doing different things with my body than I have been the last year or so (leaning on my desktop to type, leaning on my table at lunch, sitting in a less ergonomic chair with my arms in a different position, holding up an iPad more, attempting to get back into exercise). And in general, I think we're feeling more anxiety, too, which can make muscles tight. Are you doing some very gentle stretches and relaxation breathing? Like they have you do for recovery after surgery? I'm doing that to see if it helps loosen things up again. I'm glad you're going to get it checked out - try not to worry.
