Why no body suits or body shapers?!!!

Options

Does anyone else have problems with their bras riding up since their mastectomy? It's so annoying. I had a left side mastectomy and I have never been able to find a bra that is completely comfortable and doesn't ride up. So I thought...there must be a bodysuit or body shaper with a built in bra with pockets that would eliminate that problem. Guess what...nothing out there that caters to the mastectomy patient!!! At least nothing I can find. I purchased bra suspenders (well they're actually boot suspenders) from Amazon so I'm going to try that. Has anyone ever seen a full one piece body suit with pockets?

Jack5ie, you read my mind! I was thinking the same thing about two weeks ago.

I found the Rhonda Shear Reversible Body Bra as a possible solution - there is a space for removable pads, but I doubt a whole prosthetic would fit in it. I also thought I could work some sewing magic on it though.

A seamless, light compression body suit with a place for prosthetics would be perfect. Something like this but better, with more coverage and security!

buttonsmachine...exactly! Something just like that but in a bodysuit. There would be no riding up of the bra! I am constantly pulling down my lopsided bra and it can be a little embarrassing out in public. I'm sure this happens for people with a double mastectomy as well that haven't had reconstruction. If you do end up sewing something like that please let me know how it comes out.

Will do! Someone really needs to make something like this for us. I might actually send out some emails to companies and see if anyone is interested in developing something like this. It's the kind of thing that people would probably only think of if they are in our shoes.

I ordered the one I posted above, but I'm not sure how well it will work. If nothing else I can wear it around the house or give it away.

I also found this, which I thought *might* work for a mastectomy if a custom pocket were sewn in. It has no underwires and is built for less cleavage than many other body suits.

Now you're reading my mind! I was just going to post this one and sew pockets into it. A little pricey though.

Look what I found! No sewing!

    Bra Pockets

So I went ahead and bought them. I also bought the bodysuit you suggested. I found it on Amazon for cheaper. It's worth a try for only $35 for both.

Wow the pre-made pockets are a fantastic idea, I think I'm going to give that a try too. I have been looking for more ways to make non-mastectomy bras work for me, just to have more options, and that might actually do the trick!

I'll let you know how the body suit and pockets work out. Hopefully my fake boob doesn't end up around my chin again. It still would be so much better if we had this option without having to go through all this searching for something that could work for us.

I agree with that! It's been really hard to find solutions that work for me. I feel like the breast cancer MacGyver sometimes. :-P

I used the Amoena Valetta camisole tucked into my pants at first - it worked okay when I wasn't able to put weight in my bra. But since I got my prosthetic, I've found the Amoena Mara comfortable and doesn't ride up on me (I've worn a size 6/7 prosthetic in one pocket). Amazon sells it as cheap as $21-25. Worth a shot if you haven't tried it already.

Good luck in your quest! It's quite a pain not to have a solution that works.

Thank you! The 'garters' are actually working out pretty well. You can't even see them under my clothes. I received the body suit yesterday but haven't tried it on yet. I'll post here after I do.
