Newly Diagnosed
Hello Everyone~
I was diagnosed on Monday.
I have been browsing these forums since I first found my lump about a month ago. Last Friday I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist recommended a biopsy which I had on the same day.
Monday I got the call saying they had found cancer. The nurse navigator set me up with an appointment with a surgical oncologist for Tuesday, July 7. Today I got a second call making me a second appointment with a medical oncologist for the same day. I got the nurse navigator to discuss a little more of the pathology with me. I am a very information driven person and really needed to know more.
What I know now: the cancer is grade 3; it is triple negative; my tumor size is 4.6 cm.; the imaging did not indicate any lymph node involvement.
So, now I am in research mode along with my husband as we prepare for the appointments next week.
I appreciate all of the information in these forums. All of your stories are helping me to organize my thoughts and my questions.
Starting the journey....

Welcome! I''m sorry you've had to join us, but I'm glad you found us.
I'm not triple negative so I can't offer much help. I'm sure you've already you found your way there but in case not, here is a link to the Triple-Negative Breast Cancer forum. Your treatment options will be different than someone who has a hormone positive cancer, so you will likely find the most relevant information in the TN Forum.

Reader4Life, you’re in the right place. I’m sorry you are joining us on this journey, but know that it is one that you take one step after another while we hold your hand and walk along with you.
My cancer is HER2+ so I’m having a different treatment than you will have, but some of the SEs happen to everyone, so we can all relate to a certain extent.
I remember well the exhausting rabbit holes of reading clinical and scholarly articles. Some people say “don’t do it”, but if you are bookish like I am, you will find peace in educating yourself. Action generally reduces stress and the action of reading will give you the knowledge you need to make decisions about what is best for you. I say, “Read on, sister!“
(((Hugs)))
