Anyone been a part of the WINS protocol? Womens Intervention Nutrition Study. Low fat diet reducing risk of recurrence....

    No, but I'd be interested in learning more about this. Everything I've read tells me that low-fat is the way to go to improve chances of no recurrence.

    The diet did not support the hypothesis that a low fat diet reduced recurrance in ER+ women. In fact the longer the data were evaluated the more the effect was strongest in ER_ women. This was counter intuitive and maybe a diet below 20% fat would have shown the positive results for ER+ women. Even the lowest fat group could not stay below 20% of calories. They also did not control for type of fat.Beth I hope there is a similar study for the effects of high glycemic carb intake. Beth The Pet scan anology is too simplistic.
