edited July 2020 in Waiting for Test Results

Hi friends, having a stereostatic biopsy tomorrow, just needed a place to come let out the nerves & stress. Family and friends try their best to make you feel better but until they’ve waited for test results like this, they can make you crazy without meaning to, so for this biopsy only my hubby and two close friends (one who is battling recent dx of triple negative invasive bc so I’m trying to keep from bugging her too much).

I’ve had many biopsies before, all benign for fibroadenomas, this will be the first due to calcifications (apparently I’ve had calcifications but they’ve increased in #, are clustered and pleomorphic so they’re concerned). I’m just feeling overwhelmed, can’t breathe bc of course, as we all do, we go from “it’s gonna be fine to it’s gonna be cancer & back to it’s fine” a bazillion times until we actually get the results. Anyone on here had these types of calcification changes have any insight or wiling to share their story, feel free or if you’re waiting with me for your own results, feel free to chime in, it’d be nice to know I wasn’t alone 💜

Hi there Frenchiegal. I was diagnosed with a completely different breast cancer, but my daughter in law dealt with calcifications as did two of my sisters. My sisters had the same type of biopsy as you are having. Theirs were all benign. My daughter in law had some that were too active for comfort, but still very early. She decided to have a double mastectomy and reconstruction. She was in her early 40’s and is beautiful and healthy. I hope your results are benign. You are right on top of this and it sounds very early on. I am glad you are being so diligent. Best wishes and big hugs to you.

Thanks so much for the info Gigi! I’m 36 but due to all my fibroadenomas, I had to go in for a screening with my new doc since we moved here & found it that way. I’m sorry you and DIL have/had to go through this! I hope things are going well for you both& glad your sisters results were benign!

I was mostly curious instead of worried before my biopsy. And instead of stressing out while waiting for results, I went out and had FUN. The night after was an awesome concert, and my surgeon called with the results while I was at a state park enjoying scenery. And I still enjoyed the park after that call. Please don't pause your life while worrying; those are days you won't get back.

Alice you’re absolutely right! After I got home from work last night, I ate cupcakes for dinner & played with my kiddos until bedtime. I’m feeling really good right now, whatever happens, will happen whether I’m worried and stressed or out enjoying life so might as well have fun I’m off to get ready and head to the appointment, I hope everyone has an awesome Tuesday! Also I love your tagline

Hi Frenchie, I'm right there with you! Stereotactic biopsy later today and then the waiting begins. My BS's office is taking a long weekend for the holiday so I will get results Tuesday AM--that will 33 days of waiting since my screening mammogram that started all of this. What about you?

It sounds like you are pro at biopsies; this is my first (at 51!). I, too, have suspicious calcifications. I had never heard of calcifications before but after all of my searching to figure out if I think it's cancer, I'm starting to feel like a pro on the lingo. Mine are "punctate" which is usually benign but "segmentally distributed" in one area which is often malignant. My mother has had BC twice, first at 50, so my BS and I are putting my chances at 50/50.

After the initial shock and stopping in my tracks, I have been trying to just do what I do, live my life. I spent about 3 days after my initial consult with the surgeon feeling sorry for myself (and having ice cream for dinner...lol) and then decided it was time to move on.

Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

Mangosan99, morning! I hope your biopsy goes well & you’re not too sore after. I totally forgot it’s 4th of July week so I probably won’t get results until then as well. My issues started back in March but due to me working as an ICU RN they refused to see me until things calmed down so I didn’t put others at risk for Covid which is completely understandable. It’s never wrong to eat ice cream for dinner, that counts as enjoying life :) and yes fingers crossed for benign results for both of us! Please keep us updated, we’re in this together!

Biopsy done, not too sore, might have results this week. It was only one set of clusters, the tech said they had a 2% malignancy rate, can’t remember what she called it, but that made me feel better, along with finding out it was only group of clustered calcifications. I hope your biopsy went well today Mango

Frenchiegal, glad you had an encouraging biopsy. Thank you for the well-wishes--so far, so good. The biopsy was not bad, just the reminder of what may be to come. My BS is not optimistic except that we probably caught it early.

I'm sorry you have had this hanging over your head in addition to COVID and the stress of your job. My husband was an ICU nurse until he burned out many years ago. It is stressful enough in the absence of a pandemic! Thank you for what you do.

Looking forward to a positive outcome for us both, regardless of the path!

Hello French, Runner, here. I had one, yesterday. It was very, very painful. Just think how painful breast cancer is. I'm waiting for a diagnosis, as well. This will be my second time with bc, and it's come back with a vengence.
