I had a breast MRI which lit up 3 lymph nodes..

Fast forward to today. An irregular lymph node at 4 o'clock was seen. It was enlarged and had lost its C or U shape.. Biopsy is next Wednesday.

I had a double mastectomy. Has anyone had this and had a recurrence.

I replied on the other as well. I had BC in 2013, and a local recurrence in 2015. What is their plan for biopsy of these nodes? Will they do other scans

I had a swollen node that they said was having cortical thickening and missing the fatty hilum. It launched nearly 2 months of stress. They messed up the first biopsy and I had to go back. It turned out to be benign. However, my surgery was only about 15 months ago. The node had been swollen this whole time. Actually it then morphed into two swollen nodes. Nodes can enlarge for various reasons especially in the axilla where nodes have been taken previously. Get the biopsy and see what it says but try not to be too stressed.... it could just be a lymphatic issue?

    Hi,

My mom had an ultrasound last week and 2 lymph nodes look abnormal. She has surgery, chemo and rads 1 year ago.

Did you end up having a biopsy? Could you please share the results?

    Thanks!!!

Alfa - I had a local recurrence to a lymph node by my collar bone 2 years after a bilateral mastectomy. It was found by ultrasound and I requested an immediate ULS biopsy. All my docs were astounded since I had clean margins, but obviously a micro dot escaped into my lymph system before surgery, or was hiding out.

Original diagnosis was DCIS with BMX sugery. New local recurrence in the lymph node was IDC and now HER2+. Neoadjuvant chemo, ALND surgery, rads & herceptin for a year.

I did not have chemo or rads the first time around - which your mother did. Hopefully her swollen nodes could be her system fighting off other infections. It could be scar tissue of a bunch of other things. Not time to panic yet.

blah, your post has encouraged me! I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck, some with mild cortical thickening and lack of fatty hila, I had no idea they could be benign with those characteristics! Thank you for sharing! I go this week for ct scans from neck to pelvis, praying for good results as you had
