Tender lump on right side near FOOB and breastbone.
So... I have a definite lump near the edge of my breastbone and FOOB on the right side. It hurts when I touch it.
I am hoping this is scar tissue or fat lump. But my nature is to worry.
Plus, I switched to Letrozole 3 months ago and am now out of the prescription. I can't reach my oncologists office or the nurse practitiioner. I think its due to COVID19. Letrozole has messed with my mind and sore joints. I may switch back to Arimidex. Anyone else with this issue?
As for my new lump, can someone talk me off the ledge? My sister in law just had a local recurrance and a mastectomy. We were diagnosed same time 3 years ago. For her it was first time.

Hi Wallan,
My wife has felt 2 lumps now since her mastectomy. One near the sternum/rim of previous tissue expander and one around mastectomy scar. Both times we had an ultrasound and nothing has been seen although it was palpable.
Fear of recurrence has driven me crazy, but it turned out to be nothing. My wife also has had shortness of breath for months now that we were worried about for metastasis, but xrays were clear and pulmonary doctor thinks its asthma/allergies.
The only way I was able to calm down was to get results. You've been at this for long time, so I can't imagine how much worrying you've been through all these years. My wife isn't even 2 years out of treatment and I'm a mess sometimes. I hope you're able to reach your Oncologist's office soon.

Thanks Jack for your kind words. You sound very supportive for your wife.
I finally did reach the nurse practitioner at the cancer centre. She has been diverted to work in the COVID19 assessment clinic so no longer works in the cancer clinic. Plus, my oncologist is on maternity leave, so I don't have a MO really right now. So, I talked with my family doctor and I will see him on Monday. I do think my lump is scar tissue or something from my reconstruction. But I do need to get it looked at. Sigh....
The NP told me to take a hiatus from letrozole for about 6 weeks and then take Arimidex again. She really is an angel for me. She told me she will make sure i get care during this COVID thing even though she is not in the clinic right now. How great is that?
The fear of recurrance never really leaves unfortunately. It does lessen over time though. Your wife is only 2 years out. Still fresh as I say. Just remember the stats are in her favor actually. I need to remind myself of this too.

Wallan, hoping that new lump is scar tissue. Don't be afraid to ask for an MRI.

Hi everyone:
Updates... my lump was scar tissue. Yeah!!
I have a new MO now who prescribed letrozole again. He said to check back in 3 months. I have been on the drug now 2 weeks and side effects are starting up. The worse one is weakness feeling and at same time mental agitation that comes over me like a wave and then leaves. It happens on and off throughout day, worse when I first wake up. I don’t feel hot but I wonder if it’s my version of a hot flash. It’s uncomfortable and if I don’t stay mindful I can easily panic over it.
Anyone else get this?
