IBC concern

Hi all!

About 6 weeks ago my right breast was extremely itchy, two weeks later I had a rash appear. The rash lasted around 4 weeks and then went down to something that looks like a bruise except one small spot that looks like a bug bite. I have some pulling on my areola and my breast feels extremely heavy. I go in today to get it checked out. I have BRCA1 and have lost multiple family members due to breast cancer and my mom is a 2 time survivor diagnosed at 24 so I’m feeling quite worried. I’m 26 with a 2 year old and a 9month old. I’m not sure what I’m really looking for here... I guess just some comfort and prayers.

    emarg - You didn't say where you are going, but I'd be checking with a dermatologist. Rash can be lots of things. Good luck.

    First - Sorry this is something you're worrying about! I would certainly be concerned because of the BRCA1, so certainly follow up with a medical professional. Your mom was young for a diagnosis and so are you! I was 31 when I was finally diagnosed (two years after I voiced my concerns), but everyone brushed me off because of my age. You have to be your own advocate, so if you think something is wrong, you have to push for the tests! IBC is generally faster moving, so don't hesitate to get the answers you need.     Hi there,

    What did the Drs. say today? Do you have any other IBC symptoms?

    I would be really concerned about breast cancer in general given you have a BRCA mutation and your mom's very young age.

    Are you considering a prophylactic mastectomy? I wish I could have had one...
