I was just wondering if anyone has had the same symptoms... I get extremely sore and sensitive breasts (especially on the outsides) about a week before my period and it usually eases up after my period ends. A few months ago I had similar pain but mostly in my right breast. I went to my OBGYN and she referred me for an ultrasound which came back normal. This month I got the usual breast pain but my period came and went and I still have the pain. It super uncomfortable and if I press my arms against my breasts they feel so hard and sore. I have really bad health anxiety and have googled so many times that I'm freaking myself out that I could have breast cancer. I'm not pregnant because I just ended my period... any advice?

Aa2008 - I haven't had experience with this pain that you describe. But I'd start back with your gynocologist. He/she would be able to check your hormone levels to see if something is off there; or explore other reasons for your pain.

Others may post more on similar pain, most likely tomorrow morning. Best of luck getting to the root of the problem. HUGS

Aa2008, welcome to BC.org. We're sorry you're here and concerned, but glad you found us!

Good advice from Cindy, it could be something related to your hormones level. Please check back in with your doctor and let us know what you learn. Thinking of you!

I did have pain as a symptom, but it did not seem to be related to my menstrual cycle (although it did get worse around that time). My pain was in one specific area, not the whole breast, and only in the one breast. It felt like a deep bruise that would throb from time to time. I was told later that it was not the breast cancer itself that hurt, but inflammation in the surrounding tissue.

Pain is not a common symptom of breast cancer, especially early on. The fact that you're having pain in both breasts really sounds more like it could be something hormonal, as the others have said. It would be highly unlikely to get cancer in both breasts at the same time and have pain as a symptom in both. You're right to have it checked out though, and it is great that your GYN did the ultrasound for you.

I hope you are able to figure out the cause of your pain and put your mind at ease. I understand the anxiety of not knowing what's wrong.

Bilateral breast cancer is very, very rare

I had fibercystic breasts and had pain before & after my period all of my life. It got better when I stopped drinking coffee & gave up caffeine. A fairly easy thing to try.
