39 Years Old With Breast Lump
Hi Everyone,
My name is Victoria. I am new to this forum and am glad to have found others to talk who understand the concerns of a found breast lump. I hope to find closure and/or reassurance from all of you in the coming days or maybe weeks.
On May 29th, 2020 I visited my physician for minor rib pain. However, during my chest examination she located a easily felt hard and painless lump about an inch and a half long. It's located an inch from the nipple on the underside of my breast. When the doctor found it she looked me in the eye and asked for my hand. When I felt it I was devastated and didn't know what to think. She did not hesitate to provide information to schedule a Mammogram and Ultrasound, which are both scheduled for June 5th, 2020. Ever since the appointment I find myself blaming myself for not knowing I had this lump all because at age 35 (around the time my grandmother passed away from Breast Cancer) I was perform monthly breast self-exams. Up until about 4 months ago I stopped checking due to the assumption that I was in the clear after finding nothing all those years. I am disappointed that I halted my breast self-exams now. I know that this may be nothing to worry about but I can't help but think to myself, "how could it appear after only 4 months?" I am hoping for good news on Friday and that a biopsy wont be necessary but I will update you all as soon as find out something. I would like to thank all those who took the time to read my post. I hope everyone is having a safe and healthy June so far! Take Care.

Hi VictoriaB1980:
It's not uncommon for breast lumps, both benign and malignant, to seem to appear out of nowhere so try not to beat yourself up over it.
I hope all goes well Friday and your lump turns out to be benign.

Update
Hi all,
Thank you so much for the positive replies, I appreciate it! So, I had the Mammogram and Ultrasound today for the mysterious lump found in my left breast. After the scans were completed the nurse asked me to wait for the radiologist to come in to go over what was found. (When the nurse left the room I became quite concerned because I was under the impression that I would receive a call or a letter with the results). After waiting a few minutes the radiologist came in to take another look herself. She than began to show me the Ultrasound monitor and explained that she sees is a Mass roughly the size of a quarter. She strongly suggests I have a biopsy done as soon as I can especially since I have a family history of Breast Cancer.
I wasn't sure how to handle the information that was given to me and had a sense of disbelief. There were a few times when I had to hold back tears to show myself that I can remain positive. After speaking with the radiologist for a few minutes, the nurse and I scheduled the biopsy for Thursday, June 11th. I am not looking forward to having this done but I know it's a must. I am quite frightened but at the same time I am hopeful that everything will be fine.
I will either be back when the new updates come in or if I just need to talk with someone before my emotional roller-coaster starts again. I hope you all have a great weekend!
Take care!

Hi Victoria. We are here for you. Please keep us updated. Chat anytime! I had a similar experience after my ultrasound in 2017. With the dr coming back to look at ultrasound. Then I got 2nd ultrasound. Wanted 2nd opinion. Then had biopsy.
The waiting is not fun. But we are here! Sending a hug to you.

Victoria1980, I will pray for your your biopsy to be benign. You are still young so that is on your side usually. Try not to blame yourself. I cant even do the regular monthly BSE bc I'm too afraid w my mom having it and then me. Sending a hug, JCP

Victoria have you gotten your results yet? How did the biopsy go?
-
Hi all,
I'm sorry for the late reply. I've been busy with family all weekend, which has helped me keep my mind free from emotions. As you already know I had a biopsy on June 11th, which went well. And it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am still in a bit of pain and have a lot of bruising. Unfortunately I haven't gotten the results yet since it was done on a Thursday. The radiologist said I should receive the results by Tuesday, June 16th at the latest. I am hoping to find out tomorrow because the wait is stressing me out a bit! Family and friends have been praying and sending good news vibes my way. So let's hope I return tomorrow or Tuesday with good news.

thank you for the update! Hope the news is good and that you hear back from them tomorrow. Will say a prayer!

Hi all,
I received my results today and I am pleased to announce that the mass is benign! I will be having a 6 month check up to determine whether the mass has grown or gone away. I am relieved to have good news but at the same time I feel bad to share with those who haven't. I can't imagine how hard it must be to go through it, because all I felt was the fear malignant results.
I wish you all the best and thank you all so much for positive thoughts and prayers!
I will come back periodically with any new updates.
