Possible leak from my implant

Hi - has anyone here had a leak from their implant? I have had my silicone (MemoryGel) implants for 2.5 years. I recently noticed a weird part sticking out - it feels like the corner of a partially inflated air mattress. And that breast has become much harder than the other recently as well. I see my PS tomorrow but am nervous about it. From everything I have read, it sounds very much like a leak/rupture. Wondering what he might possibly recommend.

I had the same thing in both implants, it was the implant kind of folding over on itself. I had an ultrasound but all was good. I didn't want to replace them even though they are 10 years old. good luck

Hello! Did you figure anything out? I have had my silicone implants for 16 years and I'm pretty positive that they are leaking now. I'm going to my PCM this afternoon to order a MRI or an ultrasound for a diagnosis. I'm afraid that once I have to have these implants replaced, I'm going to have to pay out of pocket. This is something that I want my health insurance to pay for so I guess we'll see.

I had an MRI that didn't show a leak. I am still not convinced though as that side is much harder and the other and there is still a weird edge poking out on top. I see my PS next month. I likely will have to have them replaced. I checked and insurance does cover it since this is related to breast cancer reconstruction. What I dread though is going through having drains again, the 2 months of sleeping on my back and physical restrictions such as not being able to exercise for a while. My PS has said that is what would be involved.

If you have "cohesive gel' implants, they shouldn't "leak" since they're like silly putty. However there could be other issues. I had both an ULS and an MRI last year to confirm no problems with my 9 year old implants. The head of the radiology dept recommended I have an ULS every other year since mammograms won't show changes in the implants.

Insurance should cover replacement if the original implants were because of breast cancer surgery.
