Gardening, anyone?

OMG! Is that scotch broom Jazy?
-
DDfair, indeed it is. I pruned it back this year and it's doing great and smells heavenly.
-
Jazzy - it is illegal to have in our state - it is considered a noxious weed.
-
Oh dear, scotch broom is an invasive noxious weed in my state too. It smells horrid and causes terrible allergy problems for folks who suffer from allergies. I've been known to stop my car alongside the road to yank it out or cut it down to the ground. Also known as "guerilla gardening ". I have seen a hybrid variety in nurseries that is not invasive. I'm guessing you must have the hybrid type Jazzy girl.

GMA- interesting, never heard that here. I did a bit of looking and believe it is actually a spanish broom that I have, which is part of that same family but is considered native the Mediterranean and does well in New Mexico.

Jazzy,
Thanks for the link on Spanish broom. I had never heard of it. Very interesting reading. Always good to learn more about plants.

Looks like I'll have a bumper crop of blueberries. And because I built a netting in closure the birds won't get any of the berries.
-
ddfair,
We cover tame blueberry bushes and tame red currant bushes with netting to ward off bluejays.
We had a snowy Mother's Day weekend.
A chipmunk peeking out from behind the cat.
May is starting to warm up.
So far no sign of a hummer!

Jazzy - this is what I was talking about here in Oregon and Washington. About Scotch Broom
-
All our roses are starting to bloom.
-
The worst part of Scotch Broom in WA is that they purposefully planted it on the highway margins to keep the soil from sliding. During bloom season you really need to up the allergy meds to drive on I-5.

-
That same rose in full bloom - different for sure.

I have lots of quail that visit my yard. This mom was hanging vigilant in my rock garden today. Then I discovered she has 8 chics

The flower with the bee is a great shot. And I love that the quail has chicks.

My peace rose..

GMA- gorgeous!
Wren- they were running all over the yard on Monday, back yard and front. I never could imagine those chics moving so fast. I have not seen them in the yard since then, but hear the calls of the quail around in the morning. My new BFFs.

Scarecrow gal on FB today

Hmph. I'm just getting my seeds in this past couple of weeks, and they're not very photogenic yet.
-
-
The cacti photos are gorgeous. I think they're safe among all those spikes.
-
I have squash finally - I tried to reseed my beans and they aren't sprouting yet. Thinking I got a bad batch of seeds.

Cactus corner

I have a quail family that lives in the corner. Around 8 chics. Here is dad watching from above

This my favorite azalea. A friend brought it to the hospital after my first mastectomy. It was the kind you get at florist shops. It was light pink with darker centers. After planting in the garden it turned dark. Don't know what happened, but I still love it.
-
I'm really impressed that it grew outside. I've had bad luck trying to grow florist plants.
