Hello,

Saw my PS today for capsular contracture on left implant. Previously have had 16 surgeries starting with BMX in Feb 2010. I am prone to infections and capsular contractures. P.S. said he would remove capsular contracture and replace left implant. After thinking about it all day & calling insurance company, wouldn’t it make more sense to replace both implants? I would think they will look totally different if one is 2 1/2 years old and one is brand new. In the past he had replaced both when fixing capsular contracture. Please give me any advice.

Thank

If you are prone to infections you should keep the surgery to the one breast. You can ask your surgeon, but I don't see why he couldn't put in an implant that matches the other one.

I don't think they'll look different as long as he uses the same brand, size, and style of implant. It's not like they degrade.

I just saw my PS for capsular contracture which he feels is a result of an infection. He told me that when he removes the capsule/implant, he will only do the one side. Wouldn’t want a possible infection to spread to the other side.
