Does anyone have severe throat drainage on chemo? I've had bad drainage in my throat since I've been on chemo. It wasn't too bad at first but it's been terrible lately. It's so bad I get choked on it then cough for forever trying to cough it up. And it irritates my throat. I've been taking phenegran for it and that did help for awhile but lately it doesn't seem to be helping. I've tried everything I can think of. Every OTC sinus medicine, cough medicine, cough drops, etc and nothing is helping. It's been so bad the past few days that I've had to sleep basically sitting up so I don't end up getting choked on it so that means I really haven't got much sleep the past few days. I plan to ask my oncologist if there is something else he can prescribe me for it when I see him Thursday but then I'm sure he's going to make me test for covid again. I really don't want to do that and have to miss starting AC chemo Thursday. I just want something for some relief. It's worse first thing in the morning and at night but it's bad all day long and I'm constantly coughing all throughout the day trying to cough it up. Please someone tell me you've found something that helps!!

    hray-

I'm sorry you're having such a bad time with drainage, it sounds like post-nasal drip/drainage. I can relate to what you're going through. I have bad allergies and I really struggle with post-nasal drip. I had a similar experience as you did with drainage and coughing during chemo. I scared the Onco nurses so bad with my uncontrollable coughing during my first chemo. While one of the nurses ran off to get a nebulizer my mom gave me her Proair inhaler, that really helped. My nurse suggested I take Mucinix D for post-nasal drip and it really works well for me. I keep an inhaler and cough drops nearby when my coughing is bad. Hot tea is also my go to for loosening up drainage. It must be terribly difficult to go through all this during this COVID crisis. I hope you find relief soon.

it definitely is. Every time I even mention coughing to them they want to test me for covid and I have to skip chemo that day and I just can’t afford to do it anymore. My tumor has been growing very fast the past few weeks so I can’t afford to have to skip chemo
