    Hi.

I had bmx and Goldilocks reconstruction, on August 19, 2019. The reconstruction is donewith residual fatty tissue of the breast. My left healthy breast had longer time to heel and had harden area after the secretions from tubes was stoped. My plastic surgeon in my January appointment said that it is probably the fat is dying and it is harmless. However, since the the garden mass grew and sometimes causes discomfort. I was waiting my mammogram in zapril to confirm the idea of my plastic surgeon but the appointment is postponed to June due to Covid. I like to know if anyone is experienced such problem and if it went away eventually or not. There is anything I can do to make it go away?

    Thanks

Good question. I don't think it goes away. I have read where if it is especially bothersome, it can be removed surgically.

I had LX surgery but it wasn't until almost a year ago that this small area in my left breast enhanced on a MRI. I did a 6 mo. follow up MRI in Dec and it grew ever so slightly so this past January I went in to have a biopsy which came back as fat necrosis. I had also received good scores on mammogram and ultra sound so I guess it looks different on those images. It was all a little confusing to me. How can I pass 2 tests but fail another? At least now I know what it is. I do have a some discomfort at times as well.

hello and thanks for your response.

I am surprised that even lumpectomy crates this. Mine was immediately after surgery so my plastic surgeon was sure that is FN but I cannot wait until June to confirm by mammogram. Mine feels quite big, bigger than ping pong ball. Yours got bigger over time? I hope not. Mine is already causing discomfort No one wants another surgery in particular in today’s Covid state or under General anestisia
