Any advice
Hi all. First of all I want to say I hope I don't offend anybody by posting here, I'm just posting for some advice.
I'm 25 and have always had one breast bigger than the other. Anyway, i try to check them but my bigger breast has always felt lumpy so very hard to tell. Anyway, 7 months ago I felt a pea sized lump. I went to a GP who also felt it and said it felt like "fibrous lump" and reffered me on the 2 week wait to the breast clinic. When there a doctor felt the lump said it felt like nothing to worry about and I went for an ultrasound. They said they couldn't see ANYTHING on the ultrasound so discharged me and told me to come back if anything changes.
Fast forward to now. I was feeling my breasts and I still have that same lump however now a lumpy bit close by. I saw a nurse who said "hmm whats this. It feels like fibrous tissue but see a doctor in 2 weeks so weve ticked everything" that wasnt possible as we went into lockdown. After a GP over the phone consultation today he has reffered me again to the breast clinic. I have the app next Tuesday. Trying to stay calm as I only had the ultrasound 7 months ago but this is new so unsure.
How common is cancer at 25? Really hoping its nothing.
Thanks all

Breast cancer at 25 is pretty rare, but having fibrocystic breasts and cysts and fibroademomas (benign lumps) is pretty common.
Does your lumpiness seem to become more noticeable before your period?
Following is some info about breast cancer rates by age, and some links to fibrocystic breast condition. Good luck with your screening and let us know how it goes. And try not to worry - the odds that this is something harmless and benign are much much higher than the odds that this is cancer.

Hi Beesie, thank you for your reply, that makes me feel better. I'm more concerned that I left the original lump. I don't understand how the US didn't see anything yet myself and docs felt the lump? And now I regret not going back. My entire left breast feels really lumpy to be honest where as my right breast feels fine
Thank you

It's possible (likely, in fact) that the ultrasound didn't see anything because the lump is simply normal fibrous breast tissue that feels lumpy. That's what happens with fibrocystic breasts.

i'm hoping that is the case! The nurse at my GP surgery a few weeks ago wasn't overly concerned she said it feels like ropey fibrous tissue but to tick all the boxes see a doc. Lockdown happened so I phoned and he just sent the referral from there.
Hoping as I had an US 7 months ago its unlikely they missed anything!
Fingers crossed anyway. Hopefully age is on my side
