edited April 2020 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

Hi I am 26, I had a lumpectomy on Dec 18, 2019 due to a BIRADS 4 finding on ultrasound and mammogram which were benign findings (the surgeon said he hadn't seen anything like it in his whole career) and two days ago on April 19th the incision site developed a red lump about the size of a peaand over the last couple days the redness has spread out a little and it is tender. Wondering if this has happened to anyone? Prior to this the incision was completely healed and had faded away... thought maybe it could be an internal stitch that my body is rejecting but it has been almost 5 months...

Hi sbellmer1, and welcome to Breastcancer.org!

We're so very sorry for the concerns that bring you here, but we're glad you've found us. You're sure to get some helpful responses from other members soon.

Have you reached out to your doctor to explain what you've found? It could be a seroma (fluid build-up) or scar tissue formation, both benign issues, but you should notify your doctor either way that there is a concern in the area that wasn't there before.

We hope this helps! Please let us know what you find out!

sbellmer, that doesn't sound right at all. Did you get a biopsy before your surgery? Good thing it wasn't a mastectomy! If it's an infection it could spread quickly. Did you get a surgery report? Is there another doctor you can contact? You shouldn't put this off one day.

They attempted to biopsy but the lesion was to dense to biopsy so I had to have it surgically removed and yes I got the report that said it was focal duct ecstasia, focal microcalcifications and adenosis with fibrosis
