Shetland- I too think this will be my "new normal" while waiting on a vaccine. The general public can see light at the end of the tunnel--vaccine. But with MBC and a shortened lifespan this may be what we need to get used to for the bulk of our lives (or for what life we have left). So online shopping--groceries and clothes and such-- may be the way I shop from now on. Zoom meetings for doc appointments or volunteer committee meetings. And my home being my main place from now on. I am starting to come to terms with that prospect. And gearing up for that possibility.
I listen to several news outlets. The main talk is a "new normal" until a vaccine is made. Masks in public, 6 feet distancing, no large crowds, no handshakes or hugs. And most experts are saying late 2021 or early 2022 for the vaccine. Also mentioned is the vaccines safety--not only when first given to the person (reaction in first few minutes), but also if the person contracts COVID after the vaccine given that it doesn't make the illness worse. Never thought of that.
Mara- I have been reading on the 1918 Pandemic. Going to read more. It does seem that the illness ran until either the people had contracted it and survived or contracted it and died. Scary. May be what will happen with COVID.
Rosie- Neat idea for the pics !!!
Mel- Love the dog pics !!!
Sondra- I read an article online about the 1918 Pandemic. It said they discouraged spitting in public. Hahaha.
-
Candy, I am hopeful a vaccine will prevent everybody getting and either surviving or dying of covid. We do have good care and are socially distancing that will make a difference. It also would not surprise me if orders go out that everyone must be masked in public to contain the infection and sneezes. I think we will be OK, but we will be indoors for the forseeable future. I can see a vaccine being given every year with a flu shot if different strains show themselves as well. We will see.
Mel, the dog cloud is awesome.
-
spitting period is just plain nasty. Sometimes I really wonder how much people really do wash their hands? I still think this was no nature born creation. I believe China had a very costly oooppppssss, and the world is paying for it all.
-
dogs were up and awake at the crack of dawn. Yuck. I guess they are breathlessly awaiting my choice of make up colors today for sure. Lol. Nothing like a quick loud bellow to get your MBC body moving. It’s sunny. Yay!!!!! Maybe I’ll walk to the mailbox later. But now the pollen is all Over my vehicle. So that doesn’t help anything. Allergies. Big day shower day. When I get to see the destruction that occurred to my body. One in which I’d like to forget. And on we go. Another day! Hugs to all and in pocket for any scans or testing...

Found another funny covid quote on my facebook.

-
lmfao
-
One of my facebook friends commented that we had moved beyond Morgan Freeman narrating to Samuel L Jackson
-
Then eventually we get to Sam Kinison....
-
And if he isn't available... Bobcat Goldthwait? (actually hes almost normal these days, so.. you know, the mid 80s version)
-
Dirty jobs. Mike Rowe!!
I agree Mara!!!
-
Another funny quote from facebook newsfeed
"2020 is a leap year. That leaped right into some bullshit!"
Made me laugh.
FYI, would be awesome to hear some Sam Kinison screaming right now. Used to love him.

got this today for a free gift. I'm going to give it to my DD's niece and put a few dollars and a lip gloss in it. ItCracked me up when I saw it. I hope she giggles at it too! -
-
Mel, that's too funny. Love it. I also love the kitty bag, so cute and she will enjoy it.
-
I hope she does enjoy it. I always loved giving kids gifts when they are little. Their expressions are funny The things they say . Last time she said to her aunt (my DD) “oh I love presents auntie “ lol she gets all the credit and I do the buying Lol. Oh to be little again Lol.

Hello to all. So thought I'd just pass along this interesting development. I had an appointment at Hopkins next Monday for a blood draw and also for faslodex injections (the shots in the butt). Just got a call from them. They are rescheduling me to Wednesday, and because of new COVID 19 restrictions (Baltimore has a ton of cases) I am to pull into the circle outside the cancer building, with a mask on, turn off my car, put my brake on, and wait for a staff person to come out. At that time, someone will come out and take my blood. Here's the funny part -- the message (which I called back to clarify) said that my "nurse visit," which consists of my faslodex shots, would take place afterwards. So I called back and asked: not for anything, and I really don't care at this point in time, but can you tell me how the nurse is going to give me the shots in my butt if I'm in my car? Answer: someone will come out and escort you into a private space in the building for your shots. My question is that if they are taking me into the building anyway, why the heck don't they just do both things when I'm in the building? Seems like it would make more sense.
As I said, I didn't care if they didn't care (I mean, come on, it's at the very top of your butt that they do the shots, so it's not like you're being an exhibitionist) but this is too funny. I had visions of trying to hoist my backside off of the seat so that they could do the shots.
Your funny for the day.
-
That would have been quite a site and experience to say the least. Lol at the way you used hoist. Lol. Gave me a good mental picture. (Maybe one I didn’t need, but very funny!) Everything is so complicated. Even before it was enough to take, going through what we go through all the time with testing and scans. Now it just adds another layer of shit we have to wade through.
Thanks for sharing Lol
-
I also want this whole thing narrated by Bobcat Goldthwaite! Good call, Sondra.
Micmel, I have allergies too. Seems since radiation it takes very little to anger my lung. I have this annoying, pointless, dry cough. Constantly. Now I'm scared if I cough in public someone will shoot me or at the very least, punch me. My antihistamine works for a few hours. Even though it says it's a 24 hour tablet, it isn't. -
micmel that handbag would make a dynamite mask!
-
Hello all.
Nothing here--same old same old. Laundry today. Made out bills to put in outside mailbox for the postman to pick up. One day just melds into another.
BevJen- Hahahaha to your story about your Faslodex shots. I get Lupron monthly. I too wondered how to social distance for a shot. Maybe the nurse throws from 6 feet away, like a dart. Haha. Really, I had the monthly shot in March and they flushed my Port too. We shall see how the April appointment goes. And I am due for my scans in May. Hope they allow me to have them. Looks like we are going to be doing social distancing and the such for many months, so I hope they don't cancel the scan. I want to keep my regular schedule for scans.

Update on the 100 yr old guy walking his garden - the BBC now update every morning and they sent out five soldiers to line the path (better optics) and the Royal Family have Sent Letters. He's up to £20m now, and watching the tracker he doubled his total yesterday alone. Says he will keep walking as long as people donate. Now if only the useless, incompetent govt can get their heads out of their asses and order some PPE, that would be awesome.
Blah day here - had a massive wave of fatigue hit last night just after dinner and I had to go lie down and eventually just went to sleep. No idea why, its the end of my cycle (likely problem) but I have been walking almost an hour and a half per day and doing 30 minutes of PT and strength training so maybe I over did it. A lot of time demands with work/move/interview/freelance work too. When I woke up this morning I felt drained but I gave it 20 minutes to wake up and once I got going I was ok. The weather this time of year changes so fast too, which causes foggy head/sinus problems.
Still no sign of Philly?
-
candy~ at first glance I thought I saw your post saying that you made out with the post man. Luckily, I focused my eyes to see nope not the case! Gave myself a laugh.
Runor~My nose won’t stop running. It’s annoying as hell. Especially now. Omg symptoms? Um no allergies. Don’t kill me. I won’t cough in public. I’ll hold it. Get the stink eye if you do.
Santa~ I agree it would be a good mask. I saw on tv they are going crazy with printing crazy designs and characters on the masks. For personality. Some were really creative. Ten bucks a mask then they donate one to a health worker.
-
Sondra~I saw that on television! Go old man go! Great story..
-
Okay, so I FINALLY have some good news to report. My CT scan on Monday showed that I am....wait for it...
S T A B L E!!!! Whoopeeeeeee!
Several nodules in my lungs have increased in size, but she's pretty sure it’s the Sarcoidosis, and not cancer (had a broncoscopy last year; 3 lung nodules tested showed Sarcoidosis only). She agreed that, given our current climate with COVID-19, I should stop the Abraxane. Onc is going to talk to my Pulmonologist and have her put me back on Methotrexate to get the lungs to settle down. I don’t need to see her (Onc) until July. So you can imagine I am a very happy camper right now. Time to start growing some hair!!
Mel, that cloud picture of the dog was very cool. Loved it!
Silver linings. That’s what I think we need to do every single day. Look for the silver linings. They are there if you look for them. People helping people. Good scans. No (or less) pain. Good food. Etc., etc. It’s a beautiful thing.
-
Boo- Yeah!!! Woohoo!!!!! Way to go !!!!! So stopping Abraxane, will you be on ANY meds for the cancer?! I thought your last treatment before Abraxane was Piqray. I noted you are bone and liver mets, right?
Mel- Hahahahahahaha. Making out with the postman. Hahahaha.
Yeah where is Philly?????
-
I texted her yesterday, she's tired and fatigued. She's a very active person and her not being able to be active is really bothering her. She's what we say in a lil funk per say. She said she thinks of us all daily. I told her to take care of her and we love her
BooBoo~🎺🎺💕💕🤗🎶 great news congratulations 🍾🎈🎊 july is a BIG deal. So thrilled for you. Atta girl. Hugs and more hugs.
Sandy beaches~ thinking of you!
Daniel and Leslie~ hoping you're family unit is as strong as ever and I think of Leslie often Sending out vibes.
Mae~checking on you again. Missing your fire!
-
I’ll take this fortune. My dad? ☹️ Almost a year since I’ve lost him. Makes me so sad. -
Laurie, so happy to hear the word stable for you and that you can grow some hair. Grow some for me.
Sondra, I saw the story about the man walking his yard to raise funds for NHS, good for him. Glad he blew past his goal and glad to see the money raised. Amazing what people can do, even in lockdown. That is awesome.
I have been lazy here too. Laundry of course, amazon delivery and watched my soap and disneyplus. No exercise today. Most likely tomorrow. We will see. I did order in some lunch as well because I earned enough off my penny sites for it to be free which was nice. It was really good. Burger, onion rings and a pepsi. Simple but good. I did manage to discolour some white hankies when mixed them with black, not intentionally but did not see them in the washer so am in process of either using my oxy clean to whiten for a few hours or use my bleach, which I do not like, but want white hankies, not blue. We'll see how they go. Makes me happy having to solve little problems around the house.
-
I am so sorry about your Dad. Such a gut punch when we lose anyone, but a parent hurts so bad. Hugs to you. I remember after my mom passed away, I am an orphan now. A generation of people just about are gone from both sides of family. My dad passed when I was 18 in 1990. He had colon cancer.
I don't dwell on those thoughts because they only lead me to sadness, prefer to remember good times and both mom and dad were good people. They want me to continue on with whatever life decides to throw at me.
-
Booboo Laurie so happy to hear that good news!!
Philly if you’re reading I hope you get out of your funk soon. You are missed. I understand completely.
I’ve been swimming at home. Water is cold we don’t have a heater but the walking is scary for me dizziness, neuropathy, and back issues. Anyway nothing like the olympics but I’m moving.
Thanks for all the humor. Sometimes I share the jokes with my DH.
Candy is the postman a good kisser. Lol
Hi Mara I love your walking, household cooking eating updates.
SondraF that fatigue hit is real. Sometimes I just lay down wherever I am. Just keel right over.
BevJen are you old enough to remember mooning? In the 70’s people used to stick their rear ends out a car window and moon a bus or toll taker. So there our shots could be given at the drive through.
SantaBarbarian can someone else give us updates and narration for curfew, distancing, masks, etc. like infomercials with pets or kids?
Runor no coughing and sneezing 🤧 allowed.
Waving hello to everyone!
Tanya
