Partial Breast Radiation

Has anyone here had partial breast radiation. I will have 5 days of treatment twice a day. Since it's twice a day I'm wondering if I can use aloe vera gel in between the two treatments. How about other gels/creams. Any other tips.

Hi @VeeHow, I'm scheduled to start partial breast radiation tomorrow 5/18 and hadn't seen much about it on these boards (or I'm not good at searching on mobile, lol). I am to go in every other day for 2 weeks - 5 visits total because no weekends and Monday 5/25 is a holiday.
I hope your treatments went well. Would you happen to be willing to share your experience? I only got Aquaphor per my RO recommendation but the nurse mentioned Aloe Vera too. I was wondering if it's because it's a high dose of rads with each treatment since it's fewer visits? I'm quite nervous about it all. Would love to hear your thoughts!

annoyingboob - thanks for sharing. Sometimes I wonder if the reason they’re making me go through this accelerated partial radiation treatment is because of the CoVid situation. Ack. I'm sorry you had to go through this again and then some. I truly appreciate your insight. I am also to start Tam after radiation is done. I hated being on birth control back in the day so I worry about how I will be on this. I'll have to find a way to power through. If it makes me as moody as the pill then I worry for my poor little family and I cooped up during SIP.

I decided on partial breast radiation because I have a severe anxiety problem and didn’t think I could do the radiation treatments for 4 weeks. I went 5 days, twice a day. I used aloe vera with Aquafore on my nipple and scar but had a reaction to the aloe vera and switched to Eucerin. I slathered that stuff on and wore a 100% soft cotton t-shirt under my clothes to protect them. I wore no bra and didn’t shave. I was tired some and had a few weird pains but they weren’t bad and didn’t last long. After 2 weeks you really couldn’t tell what breast had the radiation so my Oncologist PA said I could switch to whatever product I wanted to use. I’m still using unscented products for sensitive skin. The best advice I think I can give you is to get really comfortable before they do the treatments. Best wishes for a great outcome!
